Diggin my hybrid sliders. I've recently beat the snot out of these at Superstition 9 and couldn't be happier with how stout they are. I can't feel them getting hung up at all. Don't forget the gussets.

edit: forgot > they now have 3M Grip tape all over the top edges, that stuff HURTS when you have shorts on and rub your leg getting in/out, but the passengers need it, and kept stepping on them anyway

Thanks for the compliments on the welds but I can't take credit for them - at least for the scab plates and gusset welds. I did all the rest. My little 110 only welds 3/16 safely. I had Josh (Tubing Works) weld the thicker 1/4" material to the frame to make sure it got the penetration it deserved.

The plates on the sliders are 3/16 and were used after thinking that those two outriggers were going to be enough structural support. Not even. I eventually added the plates and have been more than glad I did. These things will not budge.

 

well i dont have a welder or can access one easily so what is my best bet..i have running boards and well those went off road and are now bent up plus they hang way to low....i would just remove them but my GF wouldn't be to pleased..what suggestions do you have im new..thanks

 

You could install a set of bolt-on sliders. The outer bar works well as a step:

I'm sure that this has been asked before but... Is there anything on the frame that I have to remove to protect from the heat when I weld on my sliders?

 

Typically no if welding to the outside of the frame.

 

those sliders are nice....cheaper than going out and buying a welder then the pipe but im almost thinking of buying one for exhaust maybe front and rear bumpers later....but i think later on i might pick them up. i was hoping a truck would be cheaper to mod then my stealth...guess not lol....now if got thespeed bug and offroad bug.

X2 on the preceding, this thread decided for me too.

I think that the square look better with the bumpers I am planning also. I don't really care for tube bumpers. The ones with the square and round tubing earlier in this thread are awesome.

 

I picked up my steel today. 24' of 2x2x.120 and 2.5x2.5x.188 angle for the mounting plates/gussets (more on that later) If all is good, tomorrow we will be fabing them up and hopefully mounting them. The 2x2 looks huge but it sounds like that's what most people are using.

 

I got 4Crawler's. They're bolt on and stout. Well designed. I've slid them along several places on LHC Carnage, as well as Golden Spike, Moab Rim, and Blanca Peak.

 

You'll totally be happy with the 2x2. I like the hybrid look and am currently working on a bumper with the same concept. Balancing the look with the bumper is proving more of a challenge. The square tubing takes over quickly.
