Off the wall slider idea, would it work?

Off the wall slider idea, would it work?

I had an idea for a pair of sliders that I want to build. Unfortunately I don't have any sketches yet, but was wondering if my thinking is sound.

The idea is to put a 2" receiver tube at the rear (near the gap between the bed and cab) of the slider to; 1 work as a pivot point when having to cross a slippery side slope where there is a suitable anchor above, and 2 to be a rope anchor in a high/low angle rescue when no other suitable anchor point is available.

Now I realize that this will not provide as much ground clearance as a normal slider with its tilted up profile, but I spend 80% of the time on paved roads, 15-18% on Forrest service/fire roads, and maybe 2% of the time (or less) where I truly need a slider.

You could just make 2.5x2.5x.25 wall legs, have it come all the way through the outside rail, leave the end uncapped, and there ya go.

That is kind of what I was thinking, having that leg come all the way through. The others could be regular tube.
