That's pretty much why I got a 220V welder - I borrowed a welder that does both 110 and 220 (Miller Passport) from a COTTORA buddy, and we just blew the breaker all the time on 110V. It's kinda a pain to pull the stove out and plug in the extension cord, but way better than dealing with resetting the breaker all the time!

My shop came prewired as part of my rental agreement for dedicated 220v and 110v plugs, then just some general use plugs for lights, fans, whatever.

My garage is wired up the same way in case I want to weld at home. I just put in another breaker box and ran a wire in the attic from the main box outside...not really that much more expensive than that fancy extension cord you bought I bet.

Rental - I'm not too interested in making capital improvements to a house that's not mine!

The extension cord was payment for welding services ... but I'm awful glad I didn't have to buy it!

What would be the cheapest yet most effective welder for welding a cage?
Depending on material of course but I don't need anything heavy duty I just want to be able to weld sheet metal and create an exo cage or int cage. How thick should I need to be able to weld cage tubing and how thick is cage tubing?
