How much has youre SAS cost you?
#41
yeah, front only for $2,200
That doesn't include re-gearing or the rear suspension or d-shaft work if needed.
I just realized the price on the kit went up. I had to increase my price

The estimate I gave above is for strictly the suspension installation and front axle swap, none of the other bling like gearing, lockers or d-shafts...which are really something you have to do to make the SAS useful in the long run...so to say an SAS is only gonna cost you $3500 is misleading too.

I'm not even sitting on my tires yet(42's!) I can't get enough time to work on mine!
I just realized that the kit has gone up...so did my prices

this is sort of a hijack, but sort of not...what about a coil setup sas kit, as opposed to leaf? is it possible (i know anything can be done, but i mean rationally) and would it cost a whole lot more. any reason it wouldn't be suggested?

Here you go.
http://www.offroadsolutions.com/products/suspension.htm
Its not been offered as advice becasue the title and content of this thread has suggested that the thread starter would like to have as cheap a swap as possible. If not, he might have asked
"how much can i possibly spend on a swap".
Coilover takes a lot more to get right than leafs. Leafs work great, are stupid easy, and give a decent on road ride as well, and it's been done a million times. If you've got the cash for a coilover kit or a custom job, then by all means...just seemed this thread was about trying to keep cost down.

good god some of you guys have spent how much I make in 4 years considering Im still in high school and have a minimum wage job but Im leaning towards an a-arm kit, it better suites my needs, I live in the desert and its basically everything mixed into one so the a-arm kit should do great out here. thanks for the replies feel free to keep goin.

I'm getting close to the 8K mark and I just started this little project about a month ago..... 2K in the front axle alone...
Getting close to having everything for a decent starting point and capable rig though finally.

Haven't SAS'd yet but I've got about $6-7k into my truck as is. I have the front axle chillin beside my house and am accumilating parts for the EFI conversion and Engine rebuild.
My rear axle is built up, that was like $1100. I plan on doing the SAS completely from Marlin Crawlers kits or TG's (undecided). And not piecing together misc parts to save $500. And do the x2 T-case, gears, tires, lockers etc all at once... not a little here, a little there. Tired of piecing crap together... rather just wait until I have the $ saved and do it one big go.

Mods wise I'm about $1.5 grand into a 3 grand truck.
I'm $600 in for a locked and yukon geared rear
$200 for tires
$600 in lift and shocks
plus misc's
I expect the sas to cost around $2000 with an axle but I am not going anywhere near decking it out. Gunna build my front next winter with a v6 third 4.88's, locker, spacers, rebuilt nuckles. Figure thats $800. I'm unsure of whether I'm going to go with the SAS kit or just a hi-steer kit. One thing for sure I wont be doing an all at once like I'd like...

To the best of my figuring, my SaS will cost me approximately $4500-$5000. That is rebuilding both front and rear axles, hi steer kit, 5.29 gears, locked front/rear(with a twin stick T/case because of the front locker), long splined driveshafts, planning on using Chevy springs for the rear and rear toy springs doubled up in the front, with bilstien's for shocks. I will be making all my own hangers and shackles for the project.
