how to keep your dogs tied up
#22
my jack russel terrorist loves to chase any thing that moves and is lurning to love to ride in my 88 runner.now that i have the top off she needs to be tied in some how .
now that is a great idea now to find a good mounting location for this and tie her in thanks for the great idea
my first thought was to use cargo net from the trunks from most cars and cover the passenger area from cab wall over role bar back down to the back seats .
]thanks

I say put the dog in the cab. Not the bed. My pitbul went to moab last year with me and road the trails with no trouble and we where in a land cruser with no doors. He stayed in the truck all the time, not tied down. He jump out once but I roled the truck over, I had a seat built and he didn't [he was looking out for his own ass, (good boy)]. But he rides in the truck all the, if I have someone in the cab he will get in the back seat.

I put my dog in the back of the runner, with the window far enough up where she can't get out.
Side note.. I drove to the lake one day and there was a dog playing ball. My dog got so excited jumped into the back seat then out the window. This is when she was 5 years old. Freaked me out so bad I never drive aound with the windows down fae enough for her to get out.

Ive had incidents where the dogs do fall out, but my current dogs ride in the cab(due to respect and the lack of bed sides
) if there is room, my lab will sit with his head in my lap the entire time.
What we used to do and i will do when i get a bed built. is tie a rope in the shape of an x and put one on each / \ and then use it through the collar so there is only enough slack for them to sit or lay down but really cant get on the sides of the bed...Now as long as the slack is just right or a little tight, it works perfectly.

Ew, then it will get dragged along the road and suffer an even harsher death...
Hopefully this just never happens...keep the dog inside the car and keep the window up more than halfway...i guess that is probably the best way to prevent accidents...

my 110 malamute would do ANYTHING to get a cat, including jumping out of the back of the p/u, esp while stopped at a red light!
it was damn funny to see (me) picking him up and putting him back in while he was flopping against the bed, howling & barking at a cat
the harness was set so that even while driving he wouldnt hit the ground or the back wheel.
took about 4 times before he stopped jumping out when tethered
