so im pretty much done with my bumper .. so now some sliders .

heres what i got done today.
picked up the steel.
1 1/2 x .120 hrew tube 20' $35.38
2 x 2 x.120 sq tubing 20' $61.00
started cutting and bending .

 

just curious, what did you use to bend?

I used a jd2 tubing bender . I only have one die 1 1/2 so thats what i used .

ok so i was able to put the sliders on my truck . I used 4 legs to mount them to the frame . 3/16 angle iron and 2 pieces of 1/4 plate near the crossmember.










Ill get better pics of them installed after i paint them.

Edit : I put them 1/2 inch from the pinch weld seam of the body.
and they ended up being 65" long measured from the top of the 2x2 from end to end.

You might not ever put it back on!!! Once the night time temps get set to drop below 40f, I swap back out. You on the other hand, might not get there.

 

Yea .. i was just telling a friend of mine that i might sell my hard top .. its now in the way on the side of my house ..

But im not sure how well those softops hold up in the rain and cold during the winter.. so i might just hold on to it ..

 

The guy I talked to said it's fine in the cold, as long as you didn't mess with the windows when they froze. Once it got warmer you could open them. I don't want to take the chance cracking the vinyl, so I made a nifty storage spot between mine and my neighbors garage, out of the way so I could keep the hard top as well.
