hey there i have a94 toy and am gonna get a high travel suspension for the IFS and wanna build my own pre-runner style fenders, cut them, flare them a bit weld in more metal if needed....has anyone done this yet? any tips ideas to help?

 

fiberglass is your best bet. not sure how much you're gonna be able to do with keeping it steel...

 

if you think you have the skills, do it - why not?

use cardboard as a template of some sort. for practice, you could pick up a 2nd set of fenders to screw up first if you don't end up liking them. another option might be to make your own fiberglass fenders. you could even make them as tube fenders (think FJ40 or heep) if you wanted - that way the outer edge will be beefy and will act as a rock-rail

 

yea thats what i figure im gonna end up doing, it shouldnt be that hard to do

a question for you, how do you like the ball joint spacer? how big did you go?

 

Standard SDORI 1.5" - they're good for a tad extra down travel but probably irrelevant to what you're wanting with "high travel" - which I'm assuming is long travel kit hence the prerunner fenders.

 

i know what your saying,i trimmed my bumper and took off that lil grill thing for now but i want cheap small hight for now,(i can sell it later) that high travel + custom fender wil take i lil bit to finishen it tho......are you happy with the spacers tho?

 

Very happy with them. They gave 1.5" "lift" when installed but I relaxed it back out of t-bars to bring closer to stock height, but more flex. After 33s I added just enough t-bar lift back in to barely clear tires after firewall mods. I think currently I'm around 22" from center axle to bottom of fender. Ditching front swaybar significantly helped the front end as well. I would strongly suggest you get an IFS brace installed on your rig if you plan on driving it prerunner style. Look into Blazeland long travel.
