Hello S.A.S. -- no more IFS!
Well I have done it, its not done yet because I got the wrong axel, i have to switch it out monday, but the axel is ready to go in IFS is gone, frams is grinded

no tools are not like that all of the time LOL... its way too hard to keep everythign clean with like 4 people welding lol..

Lift? Unknown, its going to be up around 12" or so I think. Shackles are 5 1/2" The Leaf springs I am useing are only 2 1/2 of lift.

might end up working you, but I think this is a terrible design. Too much stress is placed on the small shaft coming out of the steering column...

I forsee a possible bent shaft, and not because your ole lady dried up while you were goin at it. There is just no reason to do it this way, and in fact I think it makes it harder...

No there will be no stress on the steering box or shaft , because I am useing the new toyota / chevy pitmen arm..
Most people just use this, and this is the wrong way to do it:
When useing that, it makes the factory arm have more stress

Also the little peice we used was part of the steering shaft in the car, we just moved it down some.

I am talking about your steering shaft and you are talking about your pitman arm. Do I need to get you a truck parts dictionary for your birthday?

I am still talking about the steering shaft, Why would there be any strain on the joint we made? Its power steering , no strain on the steering wheel shaft to the IFS box. The joint we made is the FACTORY PART USED DUMMY

Mine is done right. I guess the guy that I talked to, hes right about your truck, your just for show and have no clue about anything.
Before you ride this post apart, why dont you start off with knowning what your talking about before you post and look dumb.

Now if *YOU* had ever been on a hard trail in your life or knew anything about how the steering works outside of your perfect fantasy land you would know what I am talking about. If you get your tires in some rocks there is plenty of stress on your steering shaft when you are trying to turn. That long unsupported shaft coming out of your steering column might just cause you problems. I am just trying to help you avoid problems on the trail, no need to be an ass.
I absolutely can't believe you are trying to tell me I don't know anything. Look at your PS. Explain that one to me oh glorious truck God. Seems to me I've seen plenty of broken sector shafts. Why didn't the magic pitman arm help out there? What about busted steering shafts? Or does the fairy magic used in the creation of all pitman arms only have an effective range of 3 inches???
Minus that, you have me pretty much firgured out. My truck is just for show and I don't know anything despite the fact that I did the first 3rd Gen SAS in my garage and you are pretty much following the plans and parts list that I emailed to you. Honestly I simply don't care what you or anyone else says about me, I don't get off on bragging nor on putting others down and I know this probably makes me an outsider in our little 4x4 community. I also don't sugar coat anything because everyone here is a big boy, or at least I thought so. If that makes me rude, so be it. I think the guys here that actually know me think otherwise though, but maybe not. This is the "hardcore" section, if you want to gripe, whine, and point fingers back at the person giving you solid advice, I think you are in the wrong section. I you want to listen to criticism on stuff YOU posted and either take it to heart or constructively challenge it, you have come to the right place.
I posted what I saw to be a flaw and you posted back about some crap I wasn't even talking about. Now if you can't take a little ribbing about that maybe I should leave you alone, I don't want to make any grown men cry. I just thought it was funny and then you fire back with some personal attacks quoting some mystery man that I may or may not know and talking about my lack of knowledge. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed?
I like your truck man, and I am excited that there will be another SAS 3rd Gen on the trails. I am honestly just trying to help you out, as I would do with anyone on this board. I think that steering shaft is a really ˟˟˟˟ty design. I think it will experience a lot of deflection and possibly bend. I has nothing to do with the joint, it is the length of unsupported shaft coming from the steering column. That is my advice, take it or leave it.

Dont think you understand, your useing the same part as me, its just inside your car and mine is outside. Like i said, you have the same part and no I didnt use your parts list as I went with a much better axel.
Again, YOU ARE USEING THE SAME PART AS ME
(yours in inside connected to your shaft to your wheel, what makes yours different from how i did mine? My small u-joint is the same as yours, so what is wrong with the way i did mine? I really would like to know why you say its goign to break when ever toyota IFS to SAS uses the same part?
Also I have done my truck much different from you as I have rear leafs in the back with a All-Pro 6" kit to match the from lift.
I guess I am not a Hard-Core 4 wheeler LOL..

Sorry Greg, but Dave's right. You need support for the steering shaft where the red circle is or you need to get rid of the extra u-joint. Also see the blue circles, your u-joints are out of phase.

I like your choice of axle a lot, although calling it much better might be a stretch. I would like the same one but I am a college student with a limited budget. I got mine from the yard for 150 bucks and I didn't have to swap outters for a different bolt pattern. Money is tight over here in Blacksburg, I do what I can.
I am SO very well aware that we are using the EXACT SAME joint. Remember, yet another thing I included in my email to you was how to do this. Read my posts again, I am talking about sheer unsupported length of the shaft. I will make another post with some visuals so we know we are on the same wave length...
