I love yourcomments and suggestions Steve! Please don't stop offering them to me, because I do value them highly, not to say I won't disagree with them at times, but please dont' remove yourself from this thread or any of mine for that matter. You're very experienced, and I appreciate your comments and expertise.

If the rear springs are so great why did you rip Hunt when you found out what he had done? You are getting old, grumpy and way behind the times. Why stoke a wood burning stove when you can have a forced air furnace and air cond.? Links are far better in most situations.

Now it looks like you are somewhat new here so you may not know all of the advances Steve has brought to us. He is "valueable" (for the lack of a better term that I can think of at the moment) to have around.
I am very thankful that Steve is still around. He has been very helpful to many, many people (me included).
I will be sure to keep looking at this thread since I plan on redoing my rear suspension (new links) in the future.
Thanks

Steve, I get where you're at and the way you said it last time makes sense. You drive better, have more experience and have contributed to the on-line materials more than I have. I was not defaming your truck, I was trying to answer Chris' question.
Leaves do what they are designed to do, but there are compromises. Links make compromises too. Do whatever you can do to make the truck how you want it.
bwillie is a friend of mine, an acquaintance of Steve's and was down for the axle swap. We have both been to Steve's house, drank his beer and peed in his rocks out front. Before you make blanket statements about not knowing, you too should know.

I could just reply back to everything saying "that is great", "I agree", etc. to get my post count up so you think that I am experienced. Steve and I go waaaay back. We were some of the first people to lift a 3rd gen. People take my replys to heart and feel the need to get a warm and fuzzy feeling from everything. I was unaware that this was a sight that required group hugs. I pick on Steve becuase I love him and get much enjoyment from getting a rise out of him.
What was so offensive about the previous reply?
Why is it any different than what has been said before? I stated the facts- leafs, links made no difference in that situation. None.
I agree with Steve- leafs are a "fool proof" set up. The main thing is just to get them hung and the perches set to the proper angle, the rest is just bolt and go.

The blanket statements made about people is what is getting old around here. Way too many people around here equate post count with experience. bwillie is an aquaintance of mine also and I too have peed on...stuff...with him. If you think those comments were rough on Steve, you should hear them when they are face to face and
.
I know nothing about leaf set-ups so this is nothing more than a shameless attempt to pad my post count.
bwillie, can I hug you?

I won't launch into specifics, but do some reading on Pirate Chris.
Steve is building a 62. Links are not part of that. That is also not part of this discussion.
Wood stove, forced air, guess it all still heats your home.
For the record, I have gotten owned by more than just Double Whammy, but I did surely give it hell. This morning I got spanked by a boulder in my parking spot at the shop. Thankfully, in both instances, my friends gave me the help I needed.

Ok guys, I need some guidance. Today I went wheeling, and sheered the axle end of my passenger upper suspension link. Since it broke, I'd like to use some RE joints, but I'm unsure of three things:
1) Would I want the RE joint on the axle or the frame location?
2) Should I get 4 of them, instead of just 2 to minimize binding?
3) Should I replace the wimpy diameter solid rod with some bigger diameter DOM for extra strength, or should I just sleeve it and go with it?
Thanks for the help,
Chris
P.S. Today was the maiden voyage with the gas tank relocation, and so far so good!

$75, they're smoking. Build your own or sleeve yours. I got axles from them but I wasn't impressed either, they sent me the wrong ones and then told me to keep those and then sent me 2 more that were correct.
