really cool, how about a james bond idea, when the top opens you can flip out a panel that will rest on that spot right in front of the stereo face, that panel could be a deck witch switches for lights or something. or make holes in the back for aux outlets.

if you do get that kind of foam from home depot, the best way to cut it is to get a fine wire about 12"-14" long and strip off all the insulation. then, clamp a vise grip or pair of pliers on each end and heat the wire up with a propane/butane torch. should go through the foam like a hot knife through butter.

Really?
Everytime I go to the home depot I am looking for something that doesn't necessarily fit into one of the catagories that they have all over the place. Like just now. I was just at the home depot and wandered around looking for some foam trying to guess what "catagory" it would be in(after I checked the insulation isle thoroughly). After about 10 min of looking I started asking. This is what I got:
Oh your looking for foam? Hmm, what are you useing it for? padding for an armrest in my truck. Oh we don't carry those. No I understand that but I am pretty sure you have foam. Well... let me ask this guy. Nope we don't carry that.
I went through 3 different departments like this before I finnaly just left. It happens to me all the time.
So I still don't have anything for padding. I think I'm going to call some upholstering shops for advice.

Just buy one of those cheap foam bed pillows from wal-mart. There only like $10.00.

I've seen cheaper ones in the stores.

A) you have a specific item in mind and you can at least lie and say that you are using it for it's intended purpose.
B) you just want general guidance to get you into an area of the store.
C) You wnat to confirm your fidnings and have a second opinion that what you want isn't there.
I rarely ask for help in either store, but I usually get apporached by employees asking if I need help. I know that if I tell them what I want (usually something wierd), it will stump them and they will leave feeling defeated. So I tell them.
Lowe's is better for Hardware and fasteners (not by much, but they are better)
Home Depot is better because they have cuter girls working there. (Hell they were featured in Playboy.

AHHHH! I know. It's just sitting in my truck half finished. Everybody keep bugging me and motivate me to get it done! I have sliders, drivetrain lift, suspension, shock mounts, roof rack, soft top, and now I want to do bumpers! A lot of those are started and sitting in my garage. Endless projects and full time school/full time work to deal with.
