So many of you on this forum may remember me from my Blazeland LT buildup on my '88 pickup. Well here I am again and Blaze Nate recently contacted me and wanted me to tryout a new Idea he had about a Blazeland rear bumper that was shipped to a would be customer in a single box, but required the customer (now me) to weld the thing up. I was up for the project so I went ahead and had it shipped to me.... here was what in the box! I'll be welding this thing together over the next few days.... What do you all think???

I'll be watching this as I've recently decided to start thinking of new front and rear bumpers. In the pic I see 2 receiver tubes (for recovery points?), but can't really see much in the way of frame attachment. I'll especially be interested to see if it's towing worthy (or can be beefed up to tow)

 

yeah if you look at the pieces that are angled at the bottom of the photo, those are to be welded together to attach to the frame. The receiver tubes are then welded to the finished angle pieces and are designed to accomodate D-ring shackles or other things Blaze Nate has in the pipe for the future...

 

I'd be interested in this. Wonder what the price would be like? I figure it'd have to be either a bit under $300 (cause you can get a made one for that much) or have a lot better features than those others and be around $300. I'd like to know before I order the steel to do mine myself!

so after an afternoon in the garage and 12 pack of Keystone Light later ... here is what the final product came out like.....I really am pleased with the way this thing looks! One of the best things I like about it, is that its made out of square tubing. All the other bumpers out on the market right now are made of round tube... this thing LOOKS BEEF!!! just need to get end caps on and powdercoat or paint the thing!!!!

Only, its really tall. Either its going to hang down too low or be too tall to be able to open the tailgate. I'm sure the former. Its what, 2x3 or x4 on top of a 2x2?

Also, does NOT seem like the attachment points would be that strong, even if they are 3/16 or 1/4 thick...

 

Yeah... the attachment points could use a little beefing, but that could be done fairly easy. and not to mention that this is an R&D thing... I dont have a tailgate on my truck so it doesnt matter if its too high.. I will post pics on the truck tomorrow... Its dark already here..
