Built for fun
Yes, cool, covered storage compartments, they'll have hinged lids. So you can carry rope, chain, straps etc, the stuff you need during the days outing that's usually thrown in the back or behind the seat. Well in my case anyway.
And yes this is being done in my shop.

I am hoping to be building a bumper of mine too but I was curious as to what thickness should be good for a decent bumper?
Im looking for something that will be strong enough to take a beating but not too overkill that I waste money/weight on.
Im excited to see how it turns out

Can't wait for the pics! I took my rear OBA bumper home the other day, gonna work on it while I'm off work next week. Hopefully I get it done around the same time the front one gets here, talk about a rapid transformation for my truck!

And now.............
So I think it's actually done I think, except for the latches for the storage lids. Will get pics soon. This should work for a good hunting rig for sure.

Done
Well, after way too long it's finally done! Here's the pics. Locking storage compartments both sides. Nothing fancy but at least a place to throw stuff into that won't get stolen while in at the diner.

Rory's work on this bumper is done. Right now he and I are trying to find the cheapest shipping option.
When it gets here, I'll have to take a look and see if I need to do anything to the compartments as far as making them water resistant or adding drainage holes. There won't be anything stored in those compartments that can't take a little hit from the elements-- my old rusty log chain, ratchet straps, a few small hand tools --mostly just stuff that either would normally be behind the seat or thrown in the bed. And since my truck stays in the garage whenever I'm not driving it, I'm not too worried about it.
And for now the finish is just Duplicolor bed liner until I get the rear bumper done and can afford to have the bumpers and wheels powdercoated.
