Found out last night from a friend that my lil brother went wheeling for the first time a few days ago. He went mudding in mudd up the floorboards he said which ofcourse (without good mudtrires) got stuck. After some fool (one of his friends :\ ) went to pull him out, the rear bumper is gone. My lil bro let this fool take a running start to get my old '87 4runner unstuck that had an Allprooffroad rear bumper on it (it was one of those weld kits they used to sell). The bumper was but in two. I welded this bumper when I was first learning to weld and didnt put too much importance on the hitch in the middle. I always used my D rings on to pull me out and never had problems.... that and I was never up to the floor boards in mudd.

Long story short, can I modify an old 4runner Allprooffroad rear bumper to fit a 04 Taco?

I'm sure you can.... but if you don't make your backets strong and well designed you just gonna have it ripped off your truck too.

BTW- I never let anyone hook my truck up except for me, that way I can only blame myself if something breaks.

Taco bodies and frames are a little wider than your runner, depending on how much fabbing your willing to do it's probly easier to start over or purchase a new one.

My little brother is learning the hardway on a lot of stuff lately. When I was talking to him on the phone (after it happened) He had no idea what the Dlinks where that I placed on the bumper right where it meet the brackets. In fact, he even stated that you can hook a tow-strap to drings. I wish I was in San Antonio to help him learn all this stuff. But hey, at 16 we all did some stuff the hardway and learned from it. Im not sure if I will reuse the bumper, because It didny occur to me that the frame could be different. I may just use it for scrape peices else where.

I will probably start over. It would be clearner from the get-go.
