7MGTE Motors do suffer from BHG Syndrome, however properly remedied with decking the head and block, Metal HG and ARP studs torqued properly the BHG problem goes away.

Oil starvation with 7M's in Mk3 chassis (cannot speak for the rigors of subjecting the motor to the angles associated with offroad applications) can be attributed to low oil 85% of the time. This can be helped by shimming the oil pump (costs less then $4), changing your oil pump at appropriate mileage and keeping your oil topped up.

As for throwing rods and eating bearings I have no easy answer for either of these issues.

As for my credentials I have long been building a 7M motor and have been researching them for years before I got one. I recently swapped mine into a 1990 SAS Pickup. I am awaiting a CPS to get it running.

Having been said the 2JZ is OBVIOUSLY the superior motor and the only advantage I can see the 7M having besides cost is a longer stroke making higher low rpm tq. The 2JZ's advanced design makes this advantage almost negligible however.

But for my 300hp target the 7M will do just fine...I hope.

these guys have been out of business for a while now.

however, for your tranny question pichin, you'd need to get a frankenstein bellhousing made out of the r150/151 and the r154. look on supracharged.com for more info
