Talking 4runner rear window in a pickup *POST BUILD*

Let me start by saying sorry i didn't make this a build up. I think it deserved it. Anyways let me tell you guys how i did it. Well, i started off by getting a tailgate out of a 2nd generation 4 runner. What i basically did was cut the back of my cab out and replaced it with the tailgate. I made some mounts and then how to make some panels to cover up the gaps since the tailgate was curved. To do this i got a door from my generation of pickup, and a door from a 2nd gen 4 runner. I cut sections out of them to match up the body lines on both the cab and the tailgate. Along with the cab i had to add panels to the bed to match the contour of the tailgate. I also had to cut out the floor since it didn't match up with the flat bottom of the tailgate because the stock floor on the passenger side had a big hump in it to go over the stock fuel tank. Along with the floor the stock gas tank had to go and i had to have a custom fuel cell made. After all of this i finished the welding up and sent it off to get many coats of body filler
And here's how it stands now...

I don't have it completely sealed and wether proof yet but I'm getting there

btw, i plan on covering the interior portion of the tailgate with a custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure

Do you have any pictures of the build. Would be cool to see how you went about cutting and reinforcing the cab.

This type of stuff amazes me. You did all that, and I spent three hours wasting time with bondo hair, and bondo trying to fill in the holes from the trim I removed. I knew I should have just welded them up.

That is really nice, once you get the inside boxed in it is going to look really cool.

wow that is a great job!
like ive been saying and im sure many of you have, toyota needs to make that sliding rear window thats avail on the full size tundras, and 4runners and sequoias avail on all of their vehicles. thats a major selling point for alot of people

Like I said before I don't have any pictures of the build, I wish I did though. I took some, but i guess they got lost somewhere.

The seam looks smooth as butter, very nicely done. That is one clean truck, i like your style and the barber pole for a driveshaft!
