RunnerUp, take it easy on the old man, (waskillywabbit) Im sure its not the first time you`ve heard the saying
and note the smiley face after that, that would be a good sign he was playing or saying it in a nice tone.
He is very highly appreciated here, the wisdom that he shares, saves us ALL so much time and money, hes a good guy, this is by far the best forum out there, lets keep it...
Im sure everyone here can respect that, but also alot of people will tell you to use the search feature, I know did when i was new, I still use it daily, you could honestly spend days, just searching, lots of great info here, that everyone has shared.
If you have to ask, you can't afford it

looks like a high standard has been set for internal 3rd gen roll cages.
i've thought about how an internal roll cage would look in my rig, going through the dash, now i have pictures to match.
looks great.
plus it gives you a convenient place to mount stuff in the rear, like an air setup.

I have a 8 point cage that I haven't installed yet. What I worry about is splitting my head open with it. It's fine when I'm wearing a helmet, but it's also my DD. I don't wear a helmet every day
.
You also lose stuff like your sunvisor and rear view mirror. I guess you can use something else, but I'm used to my OEM ones. The cage will stay in storage for now.
Why did you do a piece through the dash? Why not just join the OEM one somehow? Interested in new ideas

Wow, thanks everyone for all the positive feedback, Hans is the one that deserves all of the credit(he said it was ok to use his name) he used to work at ORS and had done most of the other fab stuff(skid plates, etc.)for me.
and i knew what he was capable of as well as him knowing what i wanted so it was a collabertive effort! i wheel with him alot and he always helps me push the limits of my rig and encourages me to really see what it can do and it can do alot! and yes he really is a great friend i appreciate all his hard work, he even let me help on some of the bending and design and the whole thing was really alot of fun to do!
i will get some interior shots up as soon as i get out there and take some! so far i havent banged my head on it yet so I ran argentine a few weeks ago to test it out and had no trouble but i admit i havent done one of my typical trail yet so time will tell but so far i havent needed a helmet but the potential is definitely there, and as far as the visors they work just as they did before, they just needed to be trimed a little and i chose to remove the rear view mirror, first my spare tire is right in the way so i couldnt see behind me in the first place and with it removed my winshield visibility was greatly improved!
why we chose not to use the oem crossmember was first we needed to maintain the exact same mounting locations for dash and steering components and the fact that the OEM one changes diameter mid span made it slightly questionable they actualy streatch the metal to a larger diameter on the pasenger side so we felt it would be stronger and safer to maintain the same strength side to side as well as front to back, i believe we achieved both of those demands! additionally we added a 3/8 plate along the lower front kick panel to increase the srength going to the frame in the front
and waskillywabbit, i dont think your an ass but your right if you have to ask it is probably too much, we both agreed on what was fair to both of us and too me it was worth every bit of it! i am very proud of it and i too think he did an awsome and exceptional job! oddly enough i really hope i never need to use it but it definitely gives me assurance and piece of mind as far as the exo cage goes i really dont plan that for now but Hans did concider that in the design and should i decide to do so he already has a plan on what he will do. but for now i will maintain status kwo?
happy wheelling everyone and tread lightly!
thanks again!
