How wide is your rear axle adrian? Also whats the real difference between coilovers like scott and a threaded shock like you have?

Yeah I was woundering the same thing.... how wide? I really like that set up but I had my 2.0 12" Bilsteins mounted like that in the rear and the tire rubbed the shock (during articulation). so I was going to swap to a wider rear end like a T-100 or this Currie 9" that's been sitting around here. Both would widen the rear 6+ inches (3" on each side) on the 4Runner but the 2.5 with a coil spring at 4" wide or more (depending on coil wire size) it didn't add up to enough space for the tire not to rub(during articulation). I did come up with a 8" wider rear end but now it's as wide or wider then some full size trucks. And I would have to build 4" long travel arms for the front so it could be the same. Another thing I thought about was notching the frame so the shock could be moved in more allowing more room. I would like to follow this build. Where is it?

It is wide. Right now the axle is 64" but I am adding 1 and 1/4" spacers PER SIDE since the axle was specked before the links were. Yes, that is almost as wide as a Tundra.

They are 12" travel 2" diameter SAW's with reservoirs.

The bumpstop compresses about 1.5" and there is a 3/4" safety margin so the axle uses the $50 poly bumps instead of the 500 bucks of coilovers.

It cycles 14" plus or minus.

Schaefer told me not to. These are just really fancy leaf springs.

Looks awesome. I like both of your coil over rears....even if they are just fancy leafs. I think you gain alot by just having a nice heavy duty 2.5" res shock. plus teh adjustability and availability of spring rates is excellent. I look forward to seeing both of your progressions.

Fancy leaves that are adjustable, rebuildable, revalvable and re-ratable.

Sorry I missed the questions before...

The suspension was built on the bumpstops. On pure vertical compression, the bumpstop bottoms the axle just before the coilover. On articulated compression, as in one up, one down, the coilover bottoms itself on the internal ring before the bumpstops hit. I have around 14" of verical wheel travel right now and will limit that a bit depending on tire clearance.

350 over 650? The is super stiff but you have to fight angles. I am near vertical and have 250/350 IIRC.

Looks good Adrian! Have you got it out yet? If not, when are you planning to?
