I reckon it's time to go Sonoran...

I've noticed my rear-end likes to jump around a lot whenever I hit a bump even a small one. So, with Tim's rear-end problem, I decided it might a good idea for me to get underneath and take at look at my own. Well, apparently I've blown the right rear shock. Figures, they're original with 162k on 'em. Needless to say, I'll be ordering the SS 7.2 pretty soon.

If I can't get it installed by the time Crown King/DeSoto run happens, would it be okay to wheel with a blown shock?

It's ok to wheel with no shocks... just probably not the best idea.

I think if you are aware of the problem, and drive accordingly you'll be fine. I broke a shock mount once of my last Toyota pickup just before we were planning to run a trail in CO. I just had to take it easy, and expect the truck to bob more when I was relying on that corner alone.

I wonder if Schaefer has any stock shocks sitting around from his kit installs that he could sell or loan you? Might be worth asking.

I just got back from Saguaro Lake. While going over some speed bumps with the windows down, I heard a really bad moaning-squeak sound from all four corners. It sounds like all the shocks are dry. It really only happens on the very short/steep speedbumps, not the wider more gradual ones like you find on residential streets. Hopefully I can get the kit ordered sooner than later and it won't take too long to get everything in.

If you want to borrow one of my stock shocks feel free. Otherwise I'm sure you know to keep the shock on so it acts like a limit strap for the suspension even if its not doing any speed control of the suspension.

Thanks Tim, I may take you up on that offer depending on timing. How's your situation coming along?

I'm gonna give Steve a call this week and get it ordered. I also need to get some sliders SOON.

What'd you decide to go with? Let me know if I can be of any help.

You tell me what tubing you want for sliders and of course wait until I actually have a running car and then we can go and build some. If not go ahead and buy some and we'll go weld them on or make mods to them if needed.
OR
you already went to SS. You may need to go back and ask steve for some stubbs sliders as well....

If you do get rock sliders, pay the extra money for DOM tube.
