I'll throw my 10x10 shade tent and a little portable table in my "station wagon" too, just in case.

Kent said he will bring chips/salsa and Jon was on beverage duty (for lunch).

Brian if you want to bring some napkins/plates we should be covered.

If anyone else wants to bring something thats cool...but not necessary.

However, I'd recommend everyone have plenty of their own cold drinks/water its going to be hot

I will have a dual burner stove to fire up the food.

If that sounds good to everyone then I will go with it!

Good idea on the shade tent Jon, thanks. Ben will be riding along with me.

Looks like we will have about 15 people.

Grady, I'm going shopping tonight, I'll get some more cold drinks/water for the cooler.

I'll throw some gucamole, tapatillo and other condiments, bag-o-mexican cheese

Guac and Queso are ready to roll.

I'll check later, but If all else fails, I'll ride out in the rover

Sorry guys, but I'm going to have to bow out of this one. A couple of things just didn't get done in time. One of them being the windshield. I'm just not sure how comfortable I feel driving on the freeway for that long of a distance without a windshield. Hopefully I'll see you in Sept or October and my junk will be ready to go. Have fun and be safe.

Duncan - sorry but I'm sure you can ride with Steve or Kent.

Is it the cops or the wind?

Should be just like riding a motorcycle unless against the law. I know eye wear is required... got a ticket once going around the block on a bike.

We have an extra seat if you are interested. Plan to leave our house around 6:30.

A little of both. I drove around a bit and it just didn't feel very safe from flying objects (bugs, rocks, whatever) for that long of a distance. There are a couple of other things that didn't get done also, so it just wasn't the windshield. Just seemed like nothing wanted to cooperate with me as time expired. Next time I guess.

Hopefully you will be able to come back out again sometime soon and I'll see you then. Have fun.

Center Diff Lock - $500
VIAIR OBA System - $250
ARB Locker - $750

Being able to limp home in 3-wheel drive - priceless!
Of course the $700 HD Axles would have probably helped to forestall that!

Trail condition was a little rougher than last time, for sure. Most damage on any trail to date...

rear link: pretzel'd
muffler: compacted
fuel tank: slightly reduced (will help ease "pain at the pump")
left quarter panel: beautified
Irbis bumper: massaged(?!)
tire carrier: re-aligned
BudBuilts: Budbent
TJM: aerodynamicizised

But the ride home was smooth at 65 and the A/C worked great. Scenery was gorgeous, burritos (and COOKIES) were da bomb and the comraderie was enjoyable, to say the least. A special shout out to all my spotting buddies!

Once again great run guys.... was nice to finally be able to get back out on the trails.

Red Rover and 111db, your comments crack me up. It was a harder day than expected. And I thought excessive heat was going to be the only problem.

Hopefully someone will post some pics soon.

We also got a flat on the way out, or at least the sidewall was leaking bad enough to hear it from the cab.

Changed that, limped home. Woke up this morning to a second flat.

Going to try and pull the axle shaft in a few.... I think the only thing holding the axle in is the brake caliper.

Yeah... unfortunately I just put Karin on the plane and totally forgot to DL the pictures from her camera last night. So those'll have to wait till later tonight/tomorrow.

To add to John's Wall of Carnage:
-2 tires (1 after we left you guys and headed back and the other was in evidence this morning in the driveway...)
-tail-pipe modification/removal (I was a bit worried about the sound my truck was making as we were on our way home until I remembered that!)
-Partial removal of that nasty paint on my rock sliders
-We have yet to determine the cause of the "3 wheel drive" incident but are still thinking that the 1/2 shaft is now two 1/4 shafts....

I am happy to hear you guys made it back safely in the Rover. I will be interested to hear the status on the rear axle and diff. Do those vehicles have 3rd members?

Good run yesterday, thanks everyone for coming out.

I will get photos up later today.

Yeah... 3rd and 1/2-shafts. We tried pulling the Driver-rear setup earlier but when the set nut wouldn't come off we got to thinking that the job would be a little more entailed than could be cleared up in a Sunday afternoon. So I'm thinking that I'm going to have the shop that put my ARB in take it all out (just in case they jacked something up); that and the fact that if the axle did disintegrate then there is probably a lot of junk in the axle housing that we don't want to mess with.

On another note though... we took off the 2 flats and one tire that had a huge nail to a little shop that looked like they specialized in import tuners and happened to be run by a couple of kids that MIGHT have been 18. We asked them to swap/plug/balance the tires and said we'd be back after we got a beer. (As always beer on a Sunday is mighty refreshing!) Well... when we got back to the shop one of the kids was missing and his buddy said that the other had been working on one of the tires, had it pop him in the face, and wound up going to the hospital missing a couple of teeth and sporting a new gash in the side of his face... Yeah, that's going to cost him a lot more than the $35 I paid! Tires look good though.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. Sorry I had to miss it.

So the only damage was to the Rover and Jon's 4runner? How was the trail harder?

Let see some good pics.
