So, I may have to do some other stuff, but I'd rather go on a run somewhere.
I was thinking about some pretty intense, distance wise trails, or something near water.

Maybe a run out to Saguaro lake or up around the back side of pleasant.
Maybe even an epic run to the sheep bridge that I've been thinking about. (crown king back way to senator highway to bloody basin to sheep bridge. Would have to be no more then three trucks moving fast the whole time)

What else any ideas?

I'm interested but it all depends on when I can get the CVs done. The set Rockauto sent were damaged (Fedex dropped 'em) so they had to send out new ones. Good news is they said they likely will NOT want the damaged ones back. There's a metal flange that's bent a little, could easily be fixed.

As far as those runs go, I'd say back side of Pleasant. Lots to do out there and water right there. Could be a fun camping trip.

Well I ended up not going to Coke Ovens this past w/e. Jeff opted out due to some last minute responsibilities and my buddy had some axle issues we ended up working on til 3am so we didn't feel like going after that. We've kicked around the idea of going this w/e so thats an option.

where do you get in behind roosevelt? The last time I was out that way was on FR42 a couple weeks before that big fire and I thought it was all closed out there since then? You also mention Sheeps Bridge, so I assume thats open as well. I remember that being closed but I think that may have been because of rain and only temporary. Damn I gotta get caught up!

Tim - there are some trails off the Cherry Creek Canyon road between Young and Roosevelt. Cherry Creek road is east of the road connecting Young to Roosevelt. Including a good trail that meanders down the canyon to the stream bed. Cool area.

There is also a really cool trail that is up the mountain more, a bit east of Young, near the waypoint called Grasshopper, AZ. Yes you can look it up on Mapquest as Grasshopper, AZ. You access it after passing through the Salt River Canyon, then head towards the town of Cibeque along the US60. From there you can go from the US60 just up from the Salt River canyon on dirt road all the way to the 260 up near the top of the Mogollon Rim near all the lakes. Its an easy trail, but it crosses through some incredible mountains and canyons, crossing over Canyon Creek and coming up toward the 260 just below the rim. This time of year will be great in this area with the pines, streams and canyons. The road eventually hooks up with the road that connects the 260 HWY to Young and then to Roosevelt. Leaves lots of options..

Anyway just some more ideas...have fun!

Great run. Also great to wheel with you.
This is one area that even after 8 or so hours of wheeling, we've barely scratched the surface.
Lots more trips to this area and some great hikes!

My pics will be up tonight.

Glad to hear that you guys enjoyed the area, there is definitely a lot to do out there. Did you guys end up doing the ones I sent you or did you just wing it?

A bit of winging it as we went.
Stayed next to cherry creak as much as we could. Took a hike up a nice canyon. Looked at the indian ruins up the hill.
Pretty cool. I want to get out there on a Friday night, camp and then do some hikes saturday.

Yeah, I can think of at least 3 more trips out there just off the top of my head. Great area. (No, wait... a worthless trip. Don't anyone waste their time going out there.)
