1982 Pickup 22r running VERY rich.

Looking for a little guidance as that I picked up a 1982 Pickup 4x4 with a 22r. It left me hanging in Canyon City after purchase do to that it had been sitting in garage/barn for close to 4 years with out it being driven let alone started. I attempted to drive this truck home but did not make it because of the 4 year old gas and a bad radiator. Now that I have her on the road to a certain degree she is running STUPID rich, is there anyone that can assist in answering a few questions about the said issue before I learn from the school of hard knocks and create bigger problems yet. I would really like to get it to pass emissions so that I can drive it on a regular basis.

My questions are along the like of... is the mixture dependent/related to vacuum lines, do I need to look at different jets, or......

Thanks Alan

Wow...similar story to mine although mine although mine wasn't quite as bad. I had a beautiful, long, descriptive post in the tech section all written out and then got lost in space when I clicked post.
Anyway, Colorado guys: I too have an '82 I just bought is a bit high on CO and failed emissions due to that. Any ideas/tips/tricks? I adjusted what I believe it the "idle mixture screw" 1.5 turns back from all the way in. Readings got better but still high CO. All other readings are perfect.
Thanks a lot for any feedback.
Mark
