Who wheels up there? I've spent a lot of time along the Paradise Valley (Squamish River Road) and do a lot of fishing up there.

I have been up Brohm ridge in the Cat Lake area last year it was really nice area. Not a lot of real 4x4ing but nice area. Same with the Elaho valley, nice area not a lot of hard stuff though.

There are a few areas more towards Whistler I want to check out this year.

Cat lake is quite doable in a minivan, Brohm ridge would be cool I think. Never been up there. Maybe we can go explore once you've got your SAS in.

 

Hey, I've just got a Runner in the last month, but have been out exploring some of the backroads whilst going climbing and skiing over the last few years. I'm hoping to get up the far end of the Squamish Valley in the next few months (snowline permitting!!) to have a snoop. Maybe we'll be able to get out and hit a trail or two.

 

I have heard people talking about a trail from my home town to Squamish. Want to meet in the middle?

Powell River haha, apparently there is a pretty ruggid trail from there to squamish, im going home this weekend. Ill meet you in the middle and we can have a few beer around a what do you say?

That'd be awesome, but I was up for a poke around the Ashlu FSR last weekend andunless I mount some skis onto the runner I doubt its a go.

Later in the summer I'd be down for a recce mission to see if the coast is drive-to-able.

 

Pretty keen to get up around the Hurley River FSR this season as well. Made a trip in to Mt Athlestan a couple of years ago and spied a road heading off up towards the Pemberton Icefield that I want to check out. Theres some hot springs, spring/summer skiing, and some awesome climbing to be had up past the Meager Creek road.

 

Just found out some new info, haha i really want to 4x4 to squamish from powell river. or even meet vancouver/squamish guys in the middle or something. There is a map of the proposed route but i cant figure out how to link it.

I doubt any of you have been or know where powell river is but if there was a trail to squamish it would be the best thing ever

If quads cant make it or find away there is no way in hell your going to be able to do it in a Toyota.

Well if i shared that attitude id never make it. I always wheel quad trails, they are the best even though ive flipped both times in quad trails haha. I would have to make it back the same way though cuz i aint paying for those ferries back.

 

Search on BC4x4 there has been lots of talk about this overt the years. No one has found a route that is remotly doable on in a truck. I belive its a very very hard trek on a Quad too.

My attitude has nothing to due with the fact that if Quads are having a very very hard time making it, how are you going to get a 3500lb truck though there?

I agree it would be very cool if there was a trail though but flopping my or rolling my truck is not worth it in my opinion.

Haha i was just kidding about your attitude, i read about some hikers and they didnt even make it i think haha, let alone a truck. But if you go into the link(weekend wheeling) it has a map. There is a logging main that ends just past the 45 km marker, and its like a few km from the squamish river and a road there, but the connector trail is sposed to be insane. Maybe when im an old hermit ill build a trail around that mountain to avoid that valley they want to go through where all the crazy parts are. ill try to find the thread on bc 4x4

 

Yeah if you find that I would like to see it. I know that the road is painfully clouse but I have herd there is a reason it dose not go though, its got some very hard sections. Plus you know the BC farries would hate it if there was a way to get to the Sunshine coast by road.

the so called road is actually the gas line to the sunshine coast. its not a road, unless you have a d6 you arent gonna make it. not to mention you would need lotsa gas , some intense recovery gear, maybe a helicopter on call, and must not be afraid of wolves in the valley behind the tetrahedron range.
