Hey "wheelingnoob" Do you have a small trailor for your 4runner?
I keep seeing a guy with a 4runner that looks just likes yours towing a small trailor, he seems to always take a double glance when he spots me

Hi Jay! (sorry late response). I live in Ridge too...well, Ruskin if you want to get technical. I know that runner you're talking about with the trailer, I see him around quite a bit...don't know him though. Welcome to the exciting BC chapter of YT. This is pretty much the only thread anyone looks at, so if you start a new one, it's a good idea to link to it from this one. Hope to see you around. Cheers! Julie

Does anyone know of a fabricator/welder that is "available" to do a bit of work? Am STILL looking for someone to fab replacement skid plates for the 4th gen. It's been 3 years of searching. Went to see someone else a couple of weekends ago about this and was told, "yeah I can do that", but I omitted to get a date so once again am waiting. I won't name names of who hasn't come thru but if anyone can recommended a reputable person with the time to help it would be appreciated.

did ya try taran over at bigcountrycustoms? if you can get the skids mocked up in cardboard, with all the bolt holes where they should be...it shouldnt be yoo hard to find someone that can brake the metal for ya. the less thinking & measuring they (fabbers) have to do...the easier and cheaper it'll be since they'd only be cutting/bending/welding the metal for ya.
go into any metalwork shop with a fullscale cardboard mockup...anyone competent with a welder should be able to do it.
on another note..im off tomorrow and wanna go wheelin. thinkin about doin eagle...anyone up for it?

You still thinking about heading out this weekend at all?
I went up the Skaget vally out side of Hope last weekend and it's really nice up there. Did not find any tecnical trails but I'm sure that there are though.

Went out on Sunday to see if there was anything up Chilliwack lake and found a trail that I thought may get over to Skaget vally. So we headed up it and found a trail that the government had put some effort into making unpassable to 4x4's the cross cuts were 5ft deep in some spots and only about 8ft wide. We were able to make it quite a ways but the cuts were every 30-50ft and it got tyering fast.
I got out of my truck after one crossing a reolised I had a wheel pointing in a funny direction. Ended up hammering out a lower ball joint on the passanger side then bending a the rod end on that side too. So now my truck has awesome toe in till I get that fixed. The cross cuts after that were unreal they just got bigger and deeper. So we turned around and headed back down were I ended up caving in the drivers side of the rear bumber

Previously, I've been in touch with at least 3 other fab shops that do this work. All seemed interested but I guess my job is so small that it's not worth their efforts. It will be 3 years without skid plates and I'm frustrated. I don't have the old plates and they were so badly smashed and bent that they couldn't be used as a template.
I'm not a fabricator, and have no yearning to pretend that I am, so making a template isn't something I want to attempt. You know, if I would have went to BCIT 3 years ago and taken a welding/fabricating course, I could have completed this blasted job myself by now.
I guess that's my next option considering this isn't going anywhere fast.
