ok heres the story for the trip
jason ended up taking ALL FREAKIN afternoon to replace his broken birfield so we didnt end up leaving raleigh till after 9pm, we drive all through the night and end up in Harrisonburg VA around 2am. we go to some trails and setup camp and sleep till about 8am the next morning. so we get up and go to the local toyota dealer and they have an RTI ramp setup right next to the road . how cool is that ! Theres also about 30 badass yotas sitting in the parking lot with all their proud owners exchanging war stories and mod tips. There were a couple sponsored rigs like ARB and
Warn .
so after a lunch of cheese burgers and hot dogs supplied by the toyota dealership it was off to the trails to test out the rigs. The first major obstacle we encountered was a tricky rock climb that ate up all the best rigs and drivers, leaving the warn sponsored rig on its roof before all was said and done. (man i woulda gotten pics of that but he flipped it after we left, and the battery in the camera was dead when we saw the remains of the truck later that afternoon.) obviously my IFS wasnt going to go anywhere near that stuff so i gladly sat aside and watched all the fun. Jason made several valiant attempts but couldnt maneuver his gigantic fj-80 up the path, even with 35s and locked at both ends.
we moved on to some more moderate trails consisting mostly of steep climbs and tight spots instead of huge rocks. unfortunatly a body damage free weekend was not to be as jason ran into a tree trying to turn his behemoth around on a tight, off camber trail. i dont have any good pics of it right now but ill post them for you when i get ahold of them. we also found some nice mud holes to play in as you can see from the movies. finally we found a river that was just begging to be explored and took a couple pose shots to finish up the afternoon.
final thoughts:
it was a good weekend, worth the 5 or so hour drive just to see all those trucks. getting to go play with my own was almost like a bonus. its an yearly get together so if anyone else is interested maybe we can do it next year, we should also try to get some of them to try and come to our get togethers as soon as the club gains some more popularity. (it was techincally a land cruiser jam but there were more trucks and 4runners than cruisers anyway. ) hope you guys enjoyed the pics, there was alot more cool stuff that happened there that we didnt catch on film, durring our trips we need to make sure theres someone with a camera in their hands AT ALL TIMES.
theres also about 10 or so more decent pics ill post later on.

I'll be the one with the camera next year! I'm a trigger happy fool when it comes to pictures,:tomcat: I got all the editing equipment for videos on hand too
I ain't a video/film major for nothing! We could make copies of the video for people to take home if I bring a VCR. If we had two cameras we could edit the two together and make it even more interesting!

In my defense, it's hard to change a birfield when the guy who's supposed to be helping you won't shut his mouth and help. Nevermind when 7 of the 8 bolts you're using shear off, the brass bushing gets stuck in the spindle and has to be ground out, the birfield won't slide onto the long side of the inner shaft, and the inner shaft won't engage into the spider gears...<sigh> And now the stupid birf isn't sticking out far enough to put on the circlip... BUT... it wheeled fine all weekend. We did have a blast, and now my girl is seriously considering the SAS on her 4Runner... she may be purchasing mine.. hmm... I'd be happy, she'd be happy, we'd all be happy...
Hey Jeremy.. check the steaks...

So is the 96 4R in your sig hers or yours? You are one lucky man!
Keisur has his wife really into wheeling now... and you should have heard all the stuff she gave him for his bday for his truck/garage!! I hope i'll be so lucky! Well, sounds like you had fun none the less.

Yeah... we're gonna need a designated cooker for the evening after we stop wheeling and start eating... I don't want any refrigerated " jerky " like last time... ugh... And I'm bringing an air mattress this time... And my chainsaw should be here by then.. DEATH to trees.
Tuboale-
The 4Runner is still mine, for now. She's looking @ several possibilites, but after seeing what can (and will) happen, she's gotten squeamish about using a " new " rig, and she's eyeballing mine... she already had me order some stuff for it, and we're thinking about dropping a new motor into it, even though it's only got 175k on it, and the motor checks out w/ leak down and compression is 2 points off factory spec, i.e. a 40k motor reading. It looks like she'll end up buying it, and then I can tell her what to do w/ it, and you guys will have a cool chick in NC 4Roc.

my parents asked why i was turning my truck into a redneck mobile as well, i just informed them that a TRUE budweiser drinking, nascar loving, meat eating redneck would NEVER buy a toyota.

I'll be the DC (designated chef). I'll be bringing my portable gas grill and such, so we won't have to worry about it rainining bla bla. Last time my dad went to the grocrey store not too far away and got some marinated pork loin that was pretty darn good. But I guess we can byof this time. And then all share snacks/chips etc. I can make one meeeeeean burger if anyone is interested. We could caravan to the store or something, gotta love the caravan into town!

Truck camping is so much better don't you think?:beach: Lets not rely on matt to bring the A/C.
Though we don't really need it b/c there is a lake right next to the camp site
. (I know you were kidding anyway though...) Jon can be in charge of the citranella (spell??) candles. They are great moth/bug collectors at night too. The next day, they are filled with little bugs inside the wax. The only thing I can think of is a TV and PS2. I'd bring mine but I just sold it to a buddy who needed one for college. I got the PS2 and the 500watt surround sound ready to go!
