Sorry I havent been around much guys....been working my ARSS off with court and everything else. Plus, I was busy getting into a high speed pursuit with a dumb@ss kid who thought he could outrun MOTOROLA in his pimped out Mitsu Eclipse. To make a long story short, charged him with Felony Eluding, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended OL. We hit 126mph, with him traveling through Manassas almost wiping out 4 cars-plus himself 3 times, as well as traveling on the wrong side of the road. Oh yeah...Crown Vic's handle pretty good when you fly through the air for about 2-3 car lengths! He is SCREWED! All about the driver, not the car. I kept up with him and *IF* I was allowed to PIT I had 3 good chances to.

Now the reason for the post....I am looking to replace the stock Dunlop AT20's Grantrek's with some better meat, especially with the winter coming. I heard these tires suck, and from their dry pavement performance, I believe it! I was looking at the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's, and they look real good. Plus Costco can get them for me for $150 each installed with a road hazard warranty, free lifetime rotations and balancing, as well as free flat fixing. Think they are good? Anyone have these? What else do you recommend in the 265/70-17 size? Can I go up to a slightly wider (more aggressive) tire as well without having clearance issues?

Glad we have guys like you making sure our roads are safe! As far as the tires go, I have my BF AT's on mine. But I have heard great things about the Revos, and at 150 a piece I would jump on it!

 

Be careful with moving beyond the stock tire size and looking at CostCo as a supplier. I started down that path when I was shopping tires and found out that (at least locally) CostCo won't mount anything but tires in the stock size.

Check with 'em first!

 

IMO, the best thing to do is shop Costco and get the tires form someone who will price match, Costco usually has the best prices.

 

Hmm Midiwall, it must have been a local thing? or maybe I just lucked out. Cause they ended up letting me switch to bigger tries when I ended up rubbing! They was rubbing so much that it yank off my mud flaps

 

Also be aware that the costco road hazard warranty is void if you use them off-road.

 

yeah but now some retailers say that they won't match Costco because it is a wholesaler.

a non online option and known to be CHEEP is Weber tire in Fairfax City.

Check also with the one that supplies tires to your PD, they might give you a fleet discount.

 

I checked it out with Costco....they said they would mount the Revo's without a problem. I also checked with a lot of other dealers, and they all said they wont price match because Costco is a wholesaler (good call JAAB). Also, with shipping, even the places on the internet are more expensive, plus I would still need to get them mounted and balanced. I really dont care about the road hazard warranty, plus I dont go off roading all that much. I will check that place in Fairfax City...thanks for the advise. I am going to stick as close to stock as possible for size, but going with a 265/70-17 instead of the 265/65-17 that came stock since there are A LOT more choices in that aspect ratio.

Do you just not have the proper training yet, or was there another reason that you weren't allowed?

 

I just got my Revos last week and they are an excellent tire. Great handling and quiet. I can't say how they are in snow but I have heard that are great in the rain. It looks like the largest REVO you can get in 17 is a 265/70-17.

The specs for the 2004's 17in rims are: 17 X 7.5 In.

 

I was talking about offset/stud distance and such---I knew they were 17x7.5's. Thanks though.

Oh, and for the other question, it is because we havent gone through the training yet to become certified to PIT.

Yup...finally got them. Bridgestone Revo's 265/70-17. I think the white outline makes the truck look badass! The truck feels more like a sports car, and they fill out the wheel wells really nicely. What do you all think?

 

Revos look great! I bet they made a huge difference from the Grandtreks. The area around Walter Reed is a really good community. I used to deliver there when I was a UPS driver. A lot of good people out that way.

 

The change was like night and day. Talk about control! Yeah--a lot of military around Walter Reed (a lot of whom my fiancee knows), so we shoudl be able to get into something out that way. She makes the mad $$$
