Raby go with smaller tires so you can be the ricer youve always wanted to be. I have thirtyfive inch tires and my speedo is off by 10 or 12 MPH.

I think your observations about the tires make sense- with smaller tires, your speedo would be faster than your GPS speed, with bigger tires, your speedo will be slower than your GPS speed. Since you have 265/75's, it may not be enough of a difference between the stock tire to add up to much. The "75" is the aspect ratio, if I remember correctly. You've stayed with the same width, and the height has increased marginally. My 285's seem close to 2 inches taller than stock, and are obviously wider as well. It also seems to depend alot on the manufacturer and how they measure the tires. Anyways, its all a bunch of details.
Hmmm...

Using:
http://www.4lo.com/4LoCalc.htm

I get:

255/70/16 = 30.055" diameter
255/75/16 = 31.059" diameter
265/75/16 = 31.649" diameter

So, from the old 255/70's, I've picked up about 1.6" in diameter or just over 5" in circumference.

So, given that the original tire is about 94.42" in circumference, then the extra 5" is an increase of about 5%. Which, when tossed into the MPH problem works out about right.

I would feel comfy in saying that my spedo used to read about 5% fast with my smaller tires (according to the GPS).

Have Fun!
Agree! and ofcourse i siped them mark =) i used to work at discount tires and i know for a fact siping tires rule! it runs cooler, gets better traction, and lasts longer, no downside at all....maybe except when you're climbing a sharp rock or something....i guess then it'd be a bit more fragile.

We've decided to vote you out, sorry Ray!

Just kidding!

Well, at the moment, we're s-l-o-w-l-y making progress on all fronts. Ducky has been doing some web design stuff, I'm trying to get the sticker stuff done, will have some time tonight to work on it actually. I think a couple of us will be going to the Dunes on Saturday? I'm thinking our next get-together could be a halloween event of some sort. Maybe we could all go to a haunted house or something like that? Possibly plan a trail ride as well, nothing too outrageous or anything.

Come on Mark, not even for the good of 4ROC? You could be our October 4ROC swimsuit model!

Actually, making a 4ROC calender wouldn't be such a bad idea! Maybe we could open it up to Yotatech in general, have people submit photos, have online voting or something.

What do you guys think? We could also make a WA specific calender as well.

4ROC Funding

You know just a tohught but you just opened a can of worms there. If we took pics and made a Washington State 4ROC calendar you can sell them in the YotaTech store. I forget its name but I think there is a section to sell things. You could make the calendars for home use and sticky backed ones for in your rigs. Just a thought. Am I getto? Raby do not speak. LOL

I will pay double if you customize mine to not have any guys in speedo's please. The closest I want to come to any guy & a speedo is if he's taking the speedometer outta my rig to replace it. I feel dirty for even reading this thread now. I need to go shower like Jim Carry did in Ace Ventura. I forget the movie he was mocking. Funny movies that man does.
