Hey good work Joe! I hope sales are good. I should be home from Austrailia in the next month and as soon as i get some rest in and a little bit of wheeling ill be starting my swap. I have your adapter and hardware already so ill be patiently waiting for the other goodies you will be selling to make my swap easier. Hope all is well!
PS for anyone wondering, this guy is good on his word! and work!
It's great to hear back from happy customers! I have a small update.
I will now be offering the service of preparing your flywheel, as I've had that request from nearly every customer, so far. I paid quite a bit to have the Mercedes and Toyota flexplates and flywheels respectively tested to see how they are balanced. They are both neutral balanced. It doesn't hurt to have the Toyota flywheel match balanced to the Mercedes, but it is more than likely a waste of money. Now, having the Toyota neutral balanced after machining the Mercedes crank pattern in it is up for debate. My Toyota flywheel was off by 4 grams afterwards. Some will say that is negligible. Others will argue against. I will leave that up to you, the customers. Here is my pricing for the flywheel services:
Machine Mercedes bolt pattern - $75
Surface and match balance - $200
You pay shipping both ways.
Yes, the surfacing and machining is expensive. I would recommend finding someone local to surface your flywheel, as that is typically a pretty cheap service. I think O'Reilly's can do it, actually; I know they do brake rotors. At a point, I'd like to start making my own flywheels, as LCE's are way over priced, but that's a ways down the road. For now, I'd be happy to machine your bolt patterns, if you're okay paying shipping.

Reason: Update
They're finally here! I've finally finished my first set of production quality motor mounts. They are adjustable to over 3" for those who want to leave tranny mount stock and those who want to move it. They fit the OM617 and should fit 1979-1995 Toyota Pickups and 4Runners and possibly more. They use the stock Toyota rubber isolators.
I am now accepting orders for motor mounts. I'm offering them at a low promotional price of $100 + shipping thru December 31st.
Know that these are my 5th iteration, and will position your motor perfectly. I experimented with motor clocking and height and ended with a setup that clears both steering gear and still fits the stock air cleaner under the hood. (Verified on a 1984 with high steer and no body lift. Results may vary depending on your setup.)

If anyone is in the market for an OM617 kit you can't beat Joe's quality, price, and customer service. He was one of the first people to swap this engine in a Toyota and did a killer job. While I was doing mine I seeked help and Joe seemed to be the only guy that would have positive and credible feedback. The engine is an awesome swap and with the support and innovation from Joe, you can't go wrong. Seriously a great guy to do business with. Thanks for all your help man,
Check the prices! I ordered one and it was at the shop in 3 days!
Don't let other companies waste your time or money, when this dude is who you need to know. I started talking with him and started buying all the products...
Now my 85 runner is getting close to full completion. Not something I am taking lightly
Thanks Joe at mef labs for the direction and personable assistance. I look forward to only having your sticker on my truck... Hope it doesn't raise the wrong brow!
I would just like to give a review for anyone interested in these products.
I received quality parts and a great price! Once I ordered it was only a couple days before being shipped and delivered. Faster then all the other guys.
What is even better then the excellent parts is the costumer service! Top notch! Great communication and technical support! I highly recommend the services Joe is offering!
Thought I'd update you with parts I've had for a while and haven't posted yet. First up are the motor mounts. I already posted these, but wanted to share a customers photo to show you how they sit the motor.
I'm going to continue offering them for $100 for the time being.
Next is my EGR delete. You can reuse stock hardware for this part. The exhaust manifold plug is welded on. Preheat is required to prevent cracking here. This kit is $20.
Next up is my hydraulic pump block off plate for all you TD wagon owners. This kit will come with hardware. You have your choice of using a stock gasket or RTV to seal it, but I won't include that. This kit is also $20.
And last but not least, my custom oil pan. Constructed with a 14ga tig welded pan, which is mig welded to a 1/4" flange, this pan is sure to hold up on the trail, and serve a long life without leaking thanks to the warp-proof flange. The stock Mercedes drain bolt can be reused thanks to the proper nut being welded to the pan. This will also allow you to get all the oil out of the pan without removing it. Slight modification of the crankcase is required. The pan comes with new stainless hardware to prevent galvanic corrosion. You provide the gasket. Pans are $150.
Other than that, things have been very busy on my end. I finally closed on my house on Dec. 22nd. I spent my entire Christmas and New Year breaks trying to get my garage wired and insulated as it was an unfinished garage without lighting or power. I’ll still be completing that project for another week, but then I can really start setting things up in a more permanent manner. I can also finally fully devote my spare time to this side business. In February, themeflab.com will close, and my new site: doomsdaydiesel.net will open. Doomsday Diesel LLC is the official name of the company now. Slowly but surely I will continue to develop and offer new parts for the Toyota’s. I look forward to this next year and all that it has to offer!

Good to hear your progress and plans! I am in the process of buying a house as well. As soon as I do I should be getting a few more parts from you and start working on my engine. I really like the new name a lot better! Doomsday diesel has a nice ring to it! keep up the good work man!
I have a1982 Toyota 4x4 truck that I am putting the om617 into I am interested in all of your products but I guess i am not technical enough to find all of your products!!! Very excited to have found forum
I also have an 82,it's my understanding that I can bolt up the adapter but I'm sure I'll have to baaaaaby my trans. I'm trying to avoid drive line work until I've gotten my cases as well to only do it once,I would like to know price on motor mounts and adapter kit
I just wanted to post some updated pictures of my oil pan and hydraulic pump block-off plate, as well as.....
My oil filter relocation block!!! I've tested it for function and leaks, and everything works great! It utilizes the stock turbo oil feed line. With some finessing, the line can be formed to fit the block. The oil ports are 1/2" NPT. I opted to go this route over JIC, as all other components in the oil system use 1/2" NPT. It is a very snug fit next to the injection pump, and some modification of your NPT male fitting may be required. I also spot drilled the location of the "finely filtered oil" hole, in case you want to just relocate your stock filter housing.
I am now working on making custom hoses and brackets to supply with this kit, to mount the new oil filter and oil thermostat. Look for these in the next month or two.
The oil adapter bracket for now, will include 1 oil adapter block, and hardware (blue bolts and stainless washers). Gasket not included. $60+shipping.
I also finished and tested my 1st V6 adapter plate this weekend. Watch for its introduction to the marketplace in the next week.
I thought I'd post instructions here for those who want hi-res pics.
When you go install your new oil pan, you must first clearance the drain port for the turbo, or it will be sealed off and chaos will ensue. To match or go past the volume of the turbo feed line, you should grind out an area of at least 1" x .25". Feel free to take more out, but use this as a minimum to avoid oil back pressure in the turbo.
I simply used a paint marker to mark the area I wanted to take out, then plugged the motor up tight with towels to avoid getting contaminants in it. I used an angle grinder to make my mod. A dremmel would give to much more control. Just don't nick the oil pan sealing surface!
I then used a can of brake parts cleaner to get the remnant grinding dust out of the crank case. After installing the pan, I poured 2 gallons of diesel into the crankcase. You won't believe the crud that you'll get out of your engines. I let mine sit over night to help break down the carbon. This is similar to sea foamimg your oil prior to an oil change, but much more effective, and much cheaper with fuel prices right now. Years later, I will read this post and cry as I pump $7 diesel...
That's it! That's the only mod required for this pan. Don't over-do it when torquing the pan bolts. It's not hard to strip the aluminium crankcase threads!!
I've made and tested 2 adapter plates for the OM617 to R150F. I am now making a large production run of them, anticipated to be done and ready for shipment by Friday the 19th. This kit includes a steel adapter plate, steel pilot bearing adapter, and an Oilite bushing, as well as all necessary hardware, a starter spacer, and of course instructions and my full support. I am also including my own flywheel bolts and new dowel pins, as I have found the dowel pins in the V6 nearly impossible to remove without ruining them. This kit costs $460 + shipping.
For $590 you can upgrade to receive a brand new flywheel with the Mercedes pattern machined, ready to bolt on.
Message me for questions.
Thanks,
Joe

The best alternator setup to run is stock. If you need more amps, run a Saab 9000 115amp unit. It bolts right in and wires up even easier. There is no room for the alternator on the driver's side.
Your options are to run just the stock alternator or the stock alternator and my power steering adapter bracket. Or you can run any thing else you want to, but I designed my power steering bracket to be tensioned with the stock alternator.

Important! I recently picked up a totalled xtra cab V6 truck to start using for design purposes. I dropped an OM617 in it tonight and discovered the motor mount perches are about 2 inches further towards the firewall than all my 22R trucks. It's a simple fix, but want you all to know. I will revise my motor mounts to work with either setup.
For those of you looking at oil pans with IFS trucks, my oil pan clears the steering linkage but not the steering stabilizer, for what that's worth. Get rid of the stabilizer and you should be good to go. V6 models will need to relocate the P/S cooler lines.
Power steering adapters for 22R/22RE power steering pumps and Trail Gear pumps are now avilable for $75. Include mounting hardware. Belt part numbers to come soon. Tensioning must be performed by A/C compressor or alternator.
Bracket has weld nuts for ease of installation. Contains mounting spot for fuel filter, as well as oil dipstick isolator.
