where to wheel in az

hey all, i live in scottsdale about the 101 and cactus.. i got the chevy springs in the rear and im moving my rears up front this week, i'll also have my bilstein 5100's by the end of the week. 14" of travel!..... im still running stock tires, no hysteer, and no lockers... im looking for a place to wheel thats within 1, 1 1/2 hours... id like it to be challenging but im still running 235/75/15 tires and no lockers... any suggestion?

Hey!

Until you upgrade tires, and add a rear locker, your gonna be pretty much limited to typical forest service roads/trails. Tires would be first on my list- going to a good off highway 31" tire (MT/R or BFG M/T) will make a big improvement in clearance and sidewall durability. Your gonna have plenty of flex with your setup, but need a locker to take advantage of it-

As for trails suitable for your rig as it is right now, go to the AZ Virtual Jeep Club site, select "trails", look for the "search for trails" and select the "trail rating" button and enter "2.5"

later

Until you get tires, even the easy trails like the Lake Pleasant to Crown King road or Lower Raw Deal will get ya stuck or broke. The attached pic is on a typical 2.5 to 3.0 rated trail on Mingus Mountain- Smilely Rock.

Altough maybe a dose of reality would be a good teacher. Go out and try something, just be sure to bring a truck to pull you out.

You may have a solid axle truck but a bone stock TRD Tacoma can spank you silly. At this point.
