well finally got my oldschool yoter. need suspension help!

ok, so i picked up an 81 yoter yesterday, runs decent, going to re-ring it most likely, and i probably will be rebuilding the 4 speed when i do this as well, anyways,

i took my truck up my rti ramp as soon as i got it and actually was happy with the performance for a stock truck in the front, but the rear was horrible, my question is, what is the cheapest way to make the rear better, and i hear talk of swaping the rear springs to the front, what does that achieve,
thanks

there are a ton of cheap ways to lift your truck. Putting the rears up front won't give much lift. But they move the front axle 2 inches foward. And will flex like crazy. Usually, when people do this they build drop spring hangers and longer shackles. That's how they get the needed lift. Just remember to put some extra leaves in the pack. Or the springs will be too soft. Also, the stock steering won't work. So you'll need to change to a crossover or hy-steer. That's the most expensive part of the front. Then there's the driveshaft. It all snowballs from there.
Chevy, Bronco2, Mazda, Wagoneer springs all work. But IMO, don't run the chevies. They are long (63 inches) and really don't flex too well on a truck. Maybee a 4Runner would be better for those. The others will need some kind of antiwrap device. Just remember that any 2.5 inch wide spring will work. And the longer the better.
I've got a few pics of my 83 (rears up front, Chevy rears. hy-steer, etc) if you want to see how they work just give me your e mail adress...

by the way, still got that Autococker???????

look for Jeep Wagoneer springs. Fronts might be too short. So I'd look for the rears. If you could find all four springs you could make a real cheap 2-3 inch lift. Just make sure that they are the kind with 7 leaves in the pack.
