Vibration after 2.5 inch suspension lift

OK, I know it sounds like I am , but I have searched for hours, looked at multiple threads, and went to the tech write up section. Although I found numerous posting with the same question, I believe mine is somewhat different, and would like to ask if anyone has any ideas as to what may be the problem and/or solutions.

I installed a DayStar 2.5 inch suspension lift, front and rear. I have already had the tires balanced, but have not had an alignment done yet. Prior to doing the lift, there were no problems. I installed the rear spacers on Saturday evening, drove it, and encountered no vibrations, just felt a little loose in the rear in hard turns or going over bumps in turns/curves. Today, 1-15-07, I installed the front spacers and sway bar endlink bushings.

When driving at speeds 35 to 40 and over, there are noticable vibrations that seem to be coming from the front end. This did not occur until after the front spacers were installed. I have gone over and retighted all the nuts and bolts involved with the install. My friend that is a certified Toyota mechanic, said to retighten the sway bar after a while, approx. 100-200 miles. He said that the bumps and clanks I was hearing would probably settle after driving for a while, so I am not too concerned about that at this time, but he had no advice about the vibration, as he doesn't deal with lift kits very much.

I did the install myself, no assistance from the Toyota mechanic, just to clarify who installed the lift.

I did not install a panhard drop or do any diff. drops based on what I have read on the YT forums and other websites, saying they were not required for a 2.5 inch or less lift.

I did recently install a brush guard, prior to the lift, but had no vibration.

Any suggestions welcome.

Again, I have searched and found similar problems but none specific to mine.

I have a 1997 4Runner SR5 4WD

Thanks

your problem sounds like all the others, mine included

DO a front end alignment... if it was fine before, it is WAY off now

also, diff. drop is pretty easy, and in my opinion the benefits outweigh the minor work... and yeah, you'll have to re tighten the end-links too

also, casually inspect your cv boots for leakage everyday or so the next week or so, and at least once a week for a while, you can either stick head under, or look at frame in wheel well for any spatter

Thanks Andrew. If the problem persists after the alignment, I'll let you know.

i would do the diff drop. cheap insurance. I think the rule of thumb is 2" or higher.

definitely get an alignment. retorque the bolts after 100 or so miles.
