VERY budget lift

I am looking at doing a severely budget lift on my 92 pickup.
I was looking at the downey 3” lifted leafs, and then 1.5” spacers up front with longer shocks of course.
Will this result in too much lift in the rear?

yea you would be settin a perdy good amount higher in the back. i did teh same thing except i cranked my torsion bars 1.5inches. but i would not suggest this. no flex, goat wagon ride, messed up cv joints. why just do bj spacers, 2inch AAL and maybe a 1 or 2 inch body lift. thats what i got minus teh bodylift and i clear 33x12.50s fine. my lift with shocks cost me bout 270

x2 on the mild body lift. If you wanna go really really budget you can do a 3 or 4 inch BL, but I would combine a 2inch with BJ spacers and rear AAL (or 2 inch block for the cheapest option)

Cranked torsion bars and BJ spacers put the same stresses on CV's

My rear leafs are already pooched.

I am not sure what I want to do with her. It would be awesome just to gut it and build it right but thats alot of money on an old truck.

Let's go back to basics first:

How do you use the truck?

Why do you want to lift it?

What tire size would you like to run?

Because the BEST way to save money is to not spend it on stuff that won't be helping your goals for your truck. For example, if you use the truck mostly on-road, but some offroad, and you want to lift for more clearance and to fit 33's, all you need to do is get some 33x10.50 and bolt 'em on using the factory rims.

I use the truck as a daily driver to work/dirtbike hauler/play toy.

I want to lift the truck for more ground clearance to allow me to have more fun with it.
I would love to do the SAS swap for more clearance/flex, etc but I just dont know if the truck is worth that much effort/money.

I would like to run 33's on it.

Then, there ya go - 33x10.50 with no lift.

You haven't spent a dime that you might cut off later if you DO decide to SAS. Spend the money on armor or lockers instead - they will get you a lot further down the trail than lift or flex ever will.

Will 33's fit with no lift?
I do plan on cutting a bit as the salt up here has eaten my poor Toyota behind the wheel wells.
I was also planning on a locker out back, and sliders/bumper for sure.

I have a 90 pickup 22re which is pretty much the same thing and 32's is pushing it. I take anything close to a sharp turn or hit a bump to hard and they rub. I'd still do the bj spacers. I can's say it from personal experience but I'm planning on getting them this summer with shackles in the rear. should fit 33's nor rub issues at all.

That was my other decision, I need rear leafs anyways mine are flat...
So stock leafs and spacers out front w/ 33's. bumpers/sliders and a rear locker for starters should make her somewhat trail worthy, probably beyond my abilities currently anyways.

Just my 2 cents: Go 31x10.5's , add-a-leafs to fix the sag, new shocks all around and a rear locker.

I have a '88 with the 31's, havent rubbed yet. If it's your daily driver, I would suggest you go 31's. The other thing is, if you go 33's your gonna have to re-gear front and rear. 31's Just squeek by if you have 4.10's. Ideally I should be runnin 4.56's but the 4.10's get it done. Which ever way you go, post pics of before and after.

you could run some 33's and if you wanted to lift the vehicle a little, do a small body lift.

I fell into buying a ifs lift and then under a year later wanting a sas done.

Let me tell you, off road the SAS is MUCH better.
Why pay for something twice?

Thanks so much for all the help guys!! Really do appreciate it.

Is the add-a-leaf really a good idea if the springs are junk?
Going by my door code I have 4.56 gears already on the truck.

I will take pics before after for sure! This is probably not going to get started until it warms up a bit though...

That’s exactly where I am standing right now.
I just want something mild to make it somewhat worthy until I can SAS it.
So I think I am going to go with spacers up front and stock leafs in the rear, then the armour and locker of course.

Does anyone know if using add-a-leafs with shot springs is a good idea?
Or should I just get new springs and maybe an add-a-leaf for some height?

that is definately the way I am going to go. I will just leave her alone and get some rubber and a rear locker until I get some garage space/time to do the SAS build.
