toyota electric locker

Hi guys I just joined your site and I hope you can help me answer this question.I have a electric locker from a 1998 4-Runner and I want install it in my freinds 1983 truck front diff. The locker has 4.30 gears and the other diff has 4.10 gears. The question is can I put the 4.10's on the locker or do I have to get 4.30's for the front.Where is the best place to get cheap gears in Ontario,Canada? Any help you can give will be great.

You can put any set of 8" 4.10 V6 gears (not 4 cylinder) on the electric locker carrier.

it is probably easier and cheaper to find a toyota with an automatic transmission and pull the 3rd from that and put it in the rear of your friends truck so you have matching 4.30 gears.

Do that and put the e-locker in the rear, in case something happens, it's always easier to find a rear axel than a front. Fronts are rare, and costly to rebuild especially if it's been awhile since it's seen action. Put it in the rear.

You are aware that the axle housing has to be irreversibly modified in order to install in e-locker, right? Just want to make sure, it's not as simple as just bolting it in.
