i got my rig stuck in water with a sandy bottom. the water was only inches away from my air intake. i was having a really hard time trying the keep the water from splashing all over the air filter from the cooling fan throwing it everywhere. is there a cover available to wrap around the air filter when you are crossing "shallower-er" water? to prevent any water splashing from hitting the filter? or even mud for example? which also sucks

yeah yeah...snorkels are great. but how much are they? and are they hard to install?

 

If you go with a commercial one, many $100s of dollars, or try making something on your own. I've made a few snorkel setups on my 22RE over the years:

that was about 2 hours, and 20$ in ABS bits n pieces from the despots... I'm not a big fan of the 'up the a-pillar' types, figure if the waters above that height, I don't want to be in it anyway...
