Tacomas first lift

Im wondering how easy it is to do a lift to a tacoma. Mine is a 04 ext. cab. Ive never did it before. Id like to know what kind of tools it takes, like if I have to weld something. Id only like to lift it 2 to 3 in. The last toy I had had 6in of lift. Idk what type of lift it was or anything, but i liked it. Id like to do it to my new one. Id like to hear your opinions abt it. I had it to a shop and they said theyd crank the torsion bars and put spacers in the back for like 400$. That would maybe get me a inch was what they said and I said no thanks.

Go back to that shop and tell them to go back to Lincoln Tech because:

A. you can crank torsion bars and put shackles in in an hour. Hense $35 labor rate and $50 shackles dont really add up to $400.

B. Theres no torsion bars in Tacomas they are coilover...

You best bet to get lift would be pucks in the front and blocks or shackles in the back. I'm not sure if the newer tacomas are coilover all around but even if they are its only pucks all around. It should only cost you about $100 and give you 1"-2.5" depending on what you buy.

As far as installation theres no fab work or welding. Just need to rent a spring compressor I beleive and slide the pucks in. As for blocks/shackles, unbolt a few things add new part rebolt.

How much would you say a reasonable shop would do it for? Id hate to atempt the lift myself and end up screwing it up, but it sounds so easy though...

putting the spacers (pucks) in will be pretty easy but you might want to take out the coilovers and take them to a shop to get them to put it in. those dinky spring compressors are known to release the spring like a bullet. shops have nice hydraulic compressors for doing that. the shackles will be EASY to install yourself with a floor jack and jack stands. no problem. i say do it yourself
