T-Case skidplate?

I am debating on whether or not to buy a t-case skidplate for my 88 runner.. do i really need it? it just looks like the stock cross-member is at risk to me...

The factory crossmember is relatively strong, but the skid plate is pathetic. Also, the stock junk hangs down waaaayyyy too far.

If you wheel hard, and you're worried about damaging something, buy a skid plate/crossmember from www.budbuilt.com. I've been running mine for about three years now and it kicks ass. A bunch of other companies are making these now, but Bud's is still the best and the others have pretty much just copied his desing.

Bud's xmember will allow you to run a bellypan so the only thing you really have to worry about underneath is your driveshafts and axles.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Buds is the best but it is MUCH better than factory.
IMO some of the other companies (Sky-manufacturing and Marlin Crawler) have actually improved on Buds design.
The factory crossmember is relatively strong...
I think it's a weak piece of junk.

You're right, rocket. One whack with a rock and you will see how far it pushes in because of the lightweight design. That and it sticks way too low and gets hung up.
