Sway-a-way Q.

I have 2 sets of Sway-a-way 2.0 Racerunner coil-over shocks. One set has been on my 2001 Tacoma for 6yrs. I want to rebuild one set then swap then onto my truck.

I have a question about the threads on the shocks.

One set is fully threaded the whole length of the shock body.

One set is only threaded half-way up the shock body.

Is there a reason one set is better to use? Anyone recall or know of an issue with one of the designs?

I did a search, but didn?t find anything about the there being a different thread design.

THANKS.

NOt for sure but I think the only diff is that the set that only has threads half way up has a 2 piece adjuster ring. So the threads only go half way up because you can take the ring apart and don't need to thread them all the way up the shock body like the models with the solid one piece adj ring.

Mine are the one piece ring set and I wish I had the 2 piece set because mine are so rusted that I cannot turn the rings anymore. If I had a 2 piec ring then I could put spring compressors on the spring and take the ring off in half. The way mine are now I am just screwed.

I also know that there have been a few diff spring rates offered as well.

Hope somebody else gets in on this and helps shed more light on it.

Thanks

Good catch, I didn?t even think of that. The one-piece ring I have I've played with moved fine. But I can see how that type ring could become an adjustment nightmare.

I recall that the SAWs on my truck have a split-type adjusting ring. I?ll have to recheck it to see if it a two-piece ring.

Either way the one-piece ring doesn?t seem like the one to use.

Thanks for the input.
