Struts on an '89?
Hello all-
First post on the forums here. I have a 1989 4x4 pickup with stock suspension, and the combination of beer and too much time on my hands has caused me to think about some possible suspension upgrade options. I have neither the desire or money to fully long travel it, but I'd like to improve the ride quality of it both on and off the pavement.
In short-is it possible to convert my truck to a strut (e.g. modern tacoma) suspension system? Modify the upper control arm so the strut would fit, weld a mount to the lower control arm, and then a shock hoop/mount in the wheel well.
Has this ever been done before? Is it worth trying?
I have access to a full welding/fab shop, so tools, material, and time aren't an issue.
Just thought I'd see what everyone has to think about this.
Thanks
Kai
