Snorkel? What else to waterproof a 3rd gen 4runner?

What else besides a snorkel? need to bag up and seal the computer?

isnt the computer in the dash?

maybe the alternator. make sure the headlight seal is good. fuse box is good, ext... if it looks like it shouldnt get wet, tehn it probobly should stay kinda dry

i would guess that for safeties sake the fuse boxes need to be sealed up...

I'd run a muffler pipe temporarily high if you plan on getting really submerged.....even if the engine is running, water can rush in and overpower the exhaust flow

Roger Brown (aka 4crawler) has some good suggestions on his website: Waterproofing

Though this applies to his, I believe it's an '85 4Runner, his suggestions like raising the ECU is something worth considering.

Yeah, it's behind the glove box...atleast it is on my 3rd gen and if IIRC it's almost in the same spot on the 2nd gens.

......will rush in. Unless you are running WOT, and even then most of the time it will still stall if your tail pipe goes under water anymore than halfway. I've been stuck a few times because I got my pipe underwater and the engine lost all of it's power.
