Some Comparision

stock xcase with 5.29's and 33's
Speeds (MPH) for given RPM
Desired RPM 1200 Tire Diameter (inches) 31.8 Gear Ratio 5.29

Five Speed
_____2/4HI________4Lo(2.28:1)
1st____5____________2.4
2nd____9____________4.0
3rd____15___________6.5
4th____21___________9.4
5th____25___________11.1

Your current gears and either 2.28, 4.7, or 10.72:1

Speeds (MPH) for given RPM
Desired RPM 1200 Tire Diameter (inches) 31.8 Gear Ratio 4.37
Five Speed
_____2/4HI_____2.28:1____4.7:1____10.72:1
1st____7________2.9_______1.4______0.6
2nd___11________4.9_______2.4_____1.0
3rd____18_______7.9_______3.8______1.7
4th____26_______11.4______5.5______2.4
5th____31_______13.4______6.5______2.9

All speeds are for the rolling radius of a BFG 33" tire, speeds will be slightly slower when aired down. All speeds were at 1200 rpm, right after you get your cluctch out and are slow crawling...

The big reason I probally wont do it is that I currently have a fwd shift, so the shifter on the crawler box wouldnt be in the stock location, and the aft box shifter would be really far back.. I dont want to have to cut my seat up for a shifter....
Couldn't you still use it as long as you use the forward shift case as your front case and find a top shift case for your rear case? The aft box shifter is going to be in the same place either way, but with a fwd shift case, the front shifter will be farther forward, thats all.

Yeah i was just thumbing thru the MC website and saw a dual case photo where the front cast was fwd shift... might have to think about this a little more... to me the couple hundy would be worth keeping stock low range for snow.

I wonder if they can do a dogleg shifter for the rear case to bring it far enough fwd so I dont have to cut my seat?

My bench took some work to make it work. Yes the forward shift case works just fine for the crawl box. Without a new skid/x-member you can do the duals for just about as cheap as the 4.7's if you run a square front. I bought the skid later but all I had into mine was the adapter, donor top shift case (100) and had 6.5" taken out of the rear d-line for $40. The front square I built myself.

Everything works like a charm up to about 50mph (indicated) then the front shaft starts to vibe but I don't drive 65 with the hubs locked. That was a test run.

well i figured out a buddy of a buddy is selling a turbo tranny w/ a marlin box on it, so if its cheap im getting that, but i also need to replace my clutch. so right now it stands as clutch marlin box, aussie front.

I went out today and almost killed the clutch completely.

should i go centerforce?

If you can get ahold of the r151 turbo trannie and case grab it. It's got bigger 23 spline t-case input and a lower 4.3:1 first gear I think as opposed to the 3.93 or 3.95 I think for w or g series trannies. It will make a noticeable difference in your crawl ratio. If it already has a 4.7 t-case it sounds like you will be pretty well set up. Those trannie's are pretty sought after.

I believe the RET and the R and RE have the same bellhousing pattern. As far as I know it's a bolt in deal to put the turbo tranny in there. Call Marlin on the phone and ask them. They will tell you in 2 sec and that's as good advice as you can get.
