Shock Length Question
#21
Flygtenstein,
Who made the skinnier driveshaft, and what kind of shocks does it have? What did the skid plate contribute to the equation for better articulation? I thought it was the gas tank itself that caused the articulation to be limited.

The driveshaft is from SouthBay. Skinnier shaft means less of it to rub.
The custom skid is closer to the tank than the stocker so the helps. The place where it rubs the tank is now hammered a bit, so it is pretty rub free.
Paul, you should be looking at a compressed length around 22 or so inches, maybe a bit more, but measure to know for sure.

Is the driveshaft longer too or have the ability to extend further than stock? Also, what shocks are you running? I didn't see mention of that. I'm running OMEN86's and 91S's in the front.

Flygtenstein, are you sure its 22 compress and not extended. The reason I ask is because in an earlier post by ravencr, he listed a link with specs on shocks and all of the compression specs were in the 11 to 14 inch range. Thanks for the help.

I misspoke.
Mine are Rancho 5009's something like 15.5" compressed and darn near 27 extended.
My shaft is stock length. The diff is centered so I am not sure there is enough travel to merit a longer slip spline than is already there.
I have been talking about 2nd Gen stuff since that is what the question was about. Ravencr is talking about 3rd Gen parts.
