Ring and Pinion Set up

This may be a stupid question. I have a welded rear end and i am wanting to change the Ring and Pinion. What effects will the welded spider gears have on the new ring and pinion set up?? Will i have to get new spider gears? I would like to run a locker (not sure which one yet) but i am unfamiliar with the set up of a new ring and pinion. I am thinking about pulling third members and taking it to someone to install them.

If you still want the diff to be welded, just swap new ring and pinion. if you want it open you will need a new carrier.
