I am about to buy a a locker that was bought last summer but never installed but it has some surface rust on parts of it so how do i get the rust off? is there a special rust remover or can it be buffed out using a dremel? please let me know what your experiences are. Btw its a lockright 1620 i am looking at.

x2 - and I wouldn't worry about getting it perfectly clean, it's going to be immersed in gear oil most of its life.

 

some brake cleaner and the scotch bright pad will work
