preventative maintenance while installing lift?

I bought a 1993 yota pickup single cab 22re 4wd about a week ago. It came with 31/10.50's. However, he did not lift it any so when you crank the wheels left or right pretty far it hits the pinch weld and fender well. I can drive it without hitting it but if I scew up and crank it hard it just gets worse. My goal is to buy a 2" lift which should clear it just fine and make it look clean. However since there is such a wealth of info on this site on toyotas and the people who modify them, I have a question as to what I might want to replace if I go ahead and put a lift on. In other words, If im going to take crap apart, is there anything that I need to watch for that might be worth replacing while its all apart? Its got 190,000 but the guy had the engine rebuilt and a new clutch installed but as to that nothing else was replaced. Im just thinking that Id like to replace a few things while I have it up and apart like brakes or anything else that would be good preventative maintenance.

A rebuilt engine at 190,000? Something doesn't sound right about that.
Anyway, check your ball joints, tie rods, brakes, swaybar end links, u-joints, etc.

I knew the guy from an engine shop in town. He rebuilt it an replaced a few things. I talked to him about it and it was more for resale than anything else so I dont think theres too much to worry about. But I will check those things mentioned above. I plan on a toytec 2 inch lift kit. Rear add-a-leafs+extended shocks and spacers in the front.

I would guess that BJ spacers and a longer shackle would give you enough lift aye?

Explain what you mean by my wheels backspacing. And I think the spacers would work in the front for sure but I want it to set even so I might as well get matching leaf lifts no? Help me out here guys Im new to the business.

The wheels stick out to much, get different rims with a numerically higher backspacing which will suck the tires under the truck more...making a factory tire size..not rub.

@4banginRunner, Let me ask you this, plainly, will a 2" lift kit fix the problem or are the tires still going to be too wide? If it will fix it Im going to install it.

i think its the black wheels that make them look bigger. The same thing happens with my 4runner.

Possibly, I've never ran wheels with that kind of backspacing. I just dont see the point in lifting it just to clear a factory tire size, when you can get new or even stock wheels and run what you have

I appreciate all the info, but right now, I prefer lifting as I would like the way it looked better too. What preventative maintenance was needed to look for was what I needed and I think I have that. Thats all I needed to know as of yet. Thanks
