Prepping chevy 63"

I've got a set of 63s off a 89 4x4 chevy and am curious as to how to rebuild them for a swap. From what Ive read, 4x4 springs should be a 4 or 5+1 pack, but mine are a 3+1, is this the same as a 2wd chevy pack? I am planning on removing the centerbolt and painting the leaves, is there anything else I should do? I am hoping for the best travel and articulation out of these, load carrying isnt much of a consideration. Thanks

NOt sure what your asking exactly. But the 3+1 is what I run but without the +1. I dont run the overload for more flex and softer ride. Bggest thing is to make sure your bump stops are setup so your springs dont go past FLAT. 63's dont like going negative much at all. If they bottem out before that point youll never have a problem.

Ok thanks, basically what I'm asking is what mods you did to the springs.

I didnt do anything to mine. Their awsome the way they are.

Biggest things are shackle angle, bump stops, and shock length allowing for full travel.

New bushings would be smart. Its also a good idea to replace the pads between the leafs.

I run the over loads in stead of bumpstops, they keep the leaf from going too far past flat and help control axle wrap...

Not a bad idea to run an overload, especially if your trying to balance the articulation between axles, having the overload on the rear can help force the front to flex more in some cases depending on the setup. On my wheeler it seems that the front end arcs out way more than the rear already so I dont run an OL, if I did the front would be fully flexed before the rear even starts to. But I have Rears Up Front springs so they reeally flexy. But I also dont believe the OL will make for a stiffer ride either.
