you are doing this yourself? it can be done but research it... it is not a project for anyone to jsut through together... i am not saying someone with little mechanical experience cant do it, but you need to think about the backlash and stuff.... i am a fairly competant mechanical background, and i would leave gears to the professionals... pretty much, you need an install kit, possibly bearings, crush sleeve, the gears, and a 3rd member seal.... bear in mind there is a difference in the 4cyl and 6 cylinder toyota diffs and they arent 100% interchangeable

you will need a 7.5" set for the front and a 8" set for the rear, and install kits for both diffs, no offense, but if your asking what you need for a gear install, then you shouldn't be doing it yourself, to set up a ring and pinion properly takes experience and special tools, if i were you, i would buy all the stuff needed and take the diffs out of the truck and to a place that does this kind of work

hey crown---I have no idea where you are or the intended use of your 4 cylinder truck.....but sometimes, I repeat sometimes, you can re-use the bearings. The fronts usually don't see much abuse so bearings can often be re-used. The rear sees all the heat so sometimes you just re-use them also. What is important is some decent gears and a good install. For the rear, you will want at least a Yukon ring and pinion(maybe from PORC)....a seal and at least a cheapy crush sleeve. Same for the front. http://www.performanceoffroadcenter.com has some of the sweetest prices......

i wasnt going to do the install myself. the shop i was going to have do it was charging me like 325 each front and rear just for gears. so i just wanted to know everything i needed to let them do the install. so what i need is the front and rear gears and an install kit. i was looking around and there were different install kits with more parts in some kits than others like master rebuild kits and such. which should i get? thanks

WOWEY KABOWEY.....they are sure padding a lot of profit in just the gears.....their cost on gears is about 1/3 that price each. Sounds like this re-gear is gonna cost you 1200~1400 in the end. If you are in the USA you might consider having myself do a pro install. see my webpage. ZUK
