OME 901HD Questions
Hello all, Im looking for some new springs because my Downey's are sagging.
The reason they are sagging is because I always have about 300+ lbs. in the back with my cargo box and regularly haul a heavy trailer, my fear is that they will only get worse when I put on my custom bumper.
So I was reading about the OME 901HD's. Are these springs stiffer then the Downey HD's? From the sounds of things, they are but I just wanted to make sure.
My only other option is tho put on my short side LC 80 coils that I have but I think they will be too tall for what I want.
Now what shocks should I run? Are the rear OME shock's (N72F's) just a stock spec shock with better valving or do they allow for more drop? Would I be better off just running some regular 5100 series 10" or 12" travel Bilstein's?
Thanks

The OME 901 is a very stiff spring. How it compares to a Downey I am not sure. All springs sag over time but the amount varies depending on how they are used. From what you discribe and not knowing how much tongue weight your trailer has or the overall weight of the trailer you are hauling I can only say I have hauled alot in the back of my '91 with OME901's and they are still about the same as they were when I put them on. I expect them to sag some in the future. I guess I am not much help on this one but would be happy to hook you up with a pair of OME901's. We sell them for $117.64 plus shipping. Let me know if I can help..............

It probably doesnt help that I bought my Downey's used from Adrian, who used them for rock crawling (lots of flexing), and that I flex them quite a bit too. I have heard that over time that also causes springs to sag.

I was just thinking. I could go to the wrecking yard I go to and get a pair of LC 80 series rear shocks and see if those will be co long when compressed and if they give my the drop I want. Then if they work I could just get some standard length LC80 OME's.
So what do you guys think of that idear?
Thanks

So my guess is at first they would ride quite stiff, especially with little to no weight in the back.
