LOL sounds to me like someones got shallow pockets and is jealous of people that can do it!

IFS can eat my ass. I'd rather spend $3000 to do the SAS than $400 over and over again until I've payed for a SAS in repairs. Torsion bars are weak and a bad system. Should I ever buy another truck it will be a cruiser or an 85.

Thats some impressive driving with the white Taco on Rocker knocker. I had trouble on that obstacle...couldnt get the right line to make it over.

Did he make rock pile in that truck as well?

You'd buy a PT cruiser.

I gather that he did...pretty awesome

Like I have said before, if I was willing to take serious body damage (like the Taco shown) I could go even more places with my IFS. But, as of right now I am going everywhere I want to go.

For me to go farther I will build a buggy before I sink money into a 3rd gen SAS and have a vehicle thats worth less than it is in its current form.

A good portion of SAS guys got either talked into it or somehow feel that they need a SFA. Most have never had any problems with their IFS. It's funny how people are afraid to break a CV but don't mind braking birfields and chalk it up to "normal" breakage and things that are expected to happen. IFS has weak points but none of which can't be fixed. I always hear about how expensive LT is, but somehow if you cur off IFS and totally redesign the suspension and a bunch of custom fabrication (for the mechanically inept), it is more cost effective. IFS steering is crappy blah blah blah.... it can be fixed. Stock SFA steering is crappy too, but that is why people upgrade (it's just $$$$$ right). The guys who really solid axles buy vehicles that already came with solid axles.

Yeah he made it over rockpile. The only rig in our group to do so unassisted if I remember correctly.

If IFS was so crappy they wouldn't have put it on both the front and rear of the H1 military Hummers. I got to ride shotgun in an H1 and the guy drove that thing half on half off a 3' bank at 30-40mph and it felt like there was nothing there other than a slight tilt. That is when I fell in love with Fully Independent Suspensions. When I get the money, materials, and time I am going build an IRS for my Runner. By that time I should have a real job and a DD.

I hate the IRS, they take all my money

Post some pics when you do that. That will be awesome. Ivan Stewart ran IRS in the 90's.

O.K.

Let me elaborate, in 1986 Toyota made a STUPID design change when they opted for IFS.

ITHOUGHT I wanted a V6 2nd gen truck. So I bought an 88. Instead of an 85 with a solid axle. I was WRONG! At the time, I thought "What's so bad about IFS?".

NOW I THINK,

I'm SAS'ing my truck because I want to run larger tires and not worry about my front end. I broke my front end and now I worry about it everytime I go out. I dont have that much of a problem with IFS you just better not run bigger than 33's on it. Still and all I'd rather have 33's on a solid axle than 33's on IFS. Plus running woods trails the SA makes alot more sense. Believe me if I lived in the desert and didnt opt for a rockcrawler I'd be building a longtravel rig.

I just have one question: how many of you know the history of the truck of the person you keep attacking?

Thought I should come play with my friends...

I was quoted in the first post or so. Too bad I am too much of a character to be assisinated!

Both Moab obstacles pictured are hardly shining examples. I have seen a stock Taco drive Rocker Knocker with two lockers and 32" street tires. I have seen it the same year eat IFS axles like it was my job. The Rockpile is wheelbase. You could have no suspension and drive it provided you had length and height. But alas, let's not let tech get into the BS thread.

I will not let facts get in the way of the truth here, so back to your reguarly scheduled idiocy.

Still waiting for someone to tell me how super strong IFS joints and diffs are...

Also waiting for the magical travel number to drive all trails in the world...
