IFS is great in my aspect yes it has its limitations but thats a good challenge it takes skill and good driving ability to go through a trail with lifted cherokees and other SA vehicles with IFS. I think having IFS on the trail makes you a better driver because it gives you the challenge of ok lets plan this out and go for it rather then hey yeah let me just flex over this rock here and BAM there goes my body panel on the rock. For me IFS is fine for a couple more years if i go more hardcore maybe ill do a SAS but deal with what you got and know your limitations and you shouldn't have a problem with any suspension system. HAVE FUN ON THE TRAIL!!!! thats the key with us

no homo on the hug thing haha

It all depends on what you are doing. Around here there are only a few places to rock crawl. When i had my jeep i was always worrying about centering the front diff. There was a hole that i couldn't beat due to that fact. My friends IFS taco would go right through it.... and he constantly reminded me of it..... different strokes for different folks

X2.
Its all what most fits you. SAS SUCKS ASS!!!! (if you're hitting whoops at 50+ in the desert.

IFS can suck diq if you're crawling thru some swampy rocks.

It's hard to believe people actually get offended when someone says they should sas.
Almost humerous. It seems like you're treated like an alien at YT if you have ifs.
There is my "$.04"

People are always *itching about how they bent an A-arm when they were wheelin..
You never see "us" (ifs runners) posting a thread about how I can't believe I SAS'd....it sucks over whoops!!!

Thats because...everyone knows SFA sucks over whoops...so you dont do it!
Everyone also knows IFS sucks at crawling...SO YOU DONT DO IT!!

Does this thread not make anybody else laugh? i mean Tc starts a thread talking about how he wants LT and everyone bashes him. however, DeathRunner pops one up wanting people to explain what they hate so much about it and all they do is praise it.... confusing aint it?

roger that, i'm in the same boat. i've taken the DD in places nobody thought it could go. No blown CVs. but I go through cv boots like toilet paper. theres no doubt the old rustbucket can go almost anywhere with minimal effort though. for serious wheeling you can't beat a straight axle. but I like having an IFS DD and a straight axle trail pounder. it's the way. (a car would be nice as a DD too.. damn gas prices.)

eh im sticking with IFS, hell im not even 4wd (yet, so damn close) and all i want to do is just get to areas (not rock crawling, more like destinations) that your honda civic cant.

and yes occasionaly crawling, maybe my truck will be as badass as Buds or ABQ Jims one day!

For the record, I started this thread to keep the Bull☺☺☺☺e out of the tech threads.

There is a lot of drama about this dumb issue and I have made an attempt to consolodate it here. In the future when someone feels the needs to bash IFS, we can direct them here. THIS is the place.

Also, I agree with the SAS guys.... Solid axles are stronger, simpler, better steering, better articulation, better on rocks, blah blah blah. Understood and agreed.

But, there are those of us that do moderate trails and take on more diverse terrain. When it comes time for us to discuss our setups it would be nice to keep the threads on topic.

Here's something to think about.... What would Jesus do? I bet he'd do a SAS.

Everyone seems to forget what a well equped IFS rig can do. I cannot believe how many SAS drivers were indignant that TC was going to run this obstacle. Running of the Chutes - IFS shows up SAS Yes he had trouble at first (like the other SAS rigs). But he SPANKED most of the other rigs that ran it - (all of them SAS) Yes spanked them in street tires with NO LIFT in IFS!

IMHO Driver skill is 60% the other 40% is the capability of your rig....

I say this being a SAS rig driver.

Oh and More IFS RULES proof from a SAS gal...

IFS running rocker knocker on Pritchett... This guy Darrick - could do ANYTHING most 37's SAS could do and he was 33's and IFS (locked!) He taught me how to wheel...

IFS doing rocker knocker - the ONLY rig to make it over unassisted! (3 SAS's were winched up!)

YES IFS is weaker. Yes IFS is not as good as SAS when rock crawling. But when it is all one can afford. What is so bad about IFS?

I only wish I had - had more time to learn to wheel on IFS....

So before ya knock it... try it. And if ya still want to knock it - remember where ya came from. *grin*
