New owner of a "somewhat built" '93 P/U Needs help
Ok, I just got a sweat deal this past week on a '93 P/U, rebuilt engine (22RE), 5-speed, ProComp IFS Lift with 3" rear springs and a 2" body lift, welded rear diff (4.11's), ARB'd front diff (4.11's), 35" MT/R's and black steelies, etc.
So, here's my questions. I'm a cross-over Jeep guy who knows nothing about IFS, and can't afford SAS. So, with this ProComp lift, that I'm assuming is straight out of the box, no additional mods, what else can be done to aid with travel as well as shore-up the front IFS components to extend their life as long as possible?
I'm currently looking to yank the 35's off in favor of some 33's, as well as take of the body lift. This is two-fold, but mainly looking for all the power I can get out of the 4-banger, but also reduce stress on the IFS.
Also, what's your oppinions on welded diffs? I've never had one, but it seems to function like a detroit or other full-on lockers. Any draw-backs to this setup in the rear?
With the ARB in the front, never had this before, but there's a chance it's toast anyway. should a fork over the money and replace with another air locker, or throw a limited slip in and be done with it.
Finally, never ownded or operated an ARB compressor, and have no paperwork with this thing. Is there anything I should know before using it? Also, is it possible to plumb and air line directly out of it for inflating tires? Eventually going to add and air tank, but for now would love to utilize it directly if possible.
Thanks much for the help. Oh, and just so you know, the plans for the truck are first it's a daily driver, and second it's a weekend warrior. Thanks again.

Hi Josh,
Welcome to the forum! I'll let someone else chime in on the IFS, cause my cruisers and my son's truck are solid axle. Welded rear may be annoying on the street, but you can get used to it. You will have increased tire wear, and people will look at you in parking lots when the tires chirp. Depending on if you are hadcore 4X4 or not, you could keep the welded rears, or change to a limited slip slip rear or locker, or another arb ($$$)
35's have got to be a dog with the 4:11's in there. I traded my 31's with a 22 re owner for his 33's, but that was mainly because they rubbed (he had no lift). Even with 33's you may want to regear (at least to 4.88) I'm still 4.11, but I have a 350 Chev engine.
Yes, people do use their ARB compressors for tire pumps, but I think they use a tank with the setup. There has to be instructions somewhere on the web for normal operation, and for airpump use. As far as I have seen, you switch on the locker, the air engages, and you are locked

I have ARB's and love them. To inflate tires, you need the larger ARB comressor (RDCKA). They sell a "pump kit" that includes a fitting for the compressor and a hose/tire chuck.
The ARB lockers are pretty simple and VERY strong. I would find it hard to believe you would have to replace it. Most likely an air seal or something simple. All the parts lists are available on ARB's website. Should be an RD90.
33's will greatly help extend the life of the IFS. IMHO, locker will help preserve the diff at the expense of the CV's - which are easily replaced and available with lifetime warranty.
For more info, just search - tons of info here!
