I think that may have been a big marketing mistake. Usually there are some "normal" sizes released early on with a new tire so that they get on as many rigs as possible. I don't see too many people on the trails with 18 and 20" wheels - or those enormous sizes that were first released. They should have put out 33x12.50's and 35x12.50 some 16 and 17 inch sizes first.

I read once that something like 80% of the offroad aftermarket is domestic full size truck accessories - that's the $ they want to go after first

Yeah, cuz it's also why there aren't any tall/skinny tires on the market ...

I was REALLY surprised - thought Jeep would be a much bigger market than full size ... guess there's a lot of redneck hunters out there ...

What's with that?

My dad's Titan has 18's stock and those things look huge!

Definitely not my bag, baby.

No but there are plenty of people who buy a new truck, slap a body lift or use credit to put on a 6 inch lift and want mega large wheels and tires. Its all about the looks. People want to look like they 4 wheel. I went on a trail ride where a LOT of people showed up - half of them were avoiding the mud holes and rocks. Gimme a break. So you can get credit and buy a bunch of stuff, big deal. I still don't understand those people at all.

i would say its more of the lifted mall crawlers than crazy rednecks, its the rich city people that have the money(or credit cards) to spend on everything they can buy for their truck

I was in a store today and I saw some seriously ugly bling bling rims in the 20 and 22" sizes with a 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern... I did see some very nice 18"ers though at a good price too...

Pulled the trigger and went with Toyo Open Terrian MT's. Only have 2 on though because i am waiting for stuffs to come back from the diff guys (long story) Anyways 2 35's out back with a 2" suspension lift and not lift in the front with 265's. It looks BAD ASS HAHAHA

I will have pictures up soon that show you the progress of my build. but in all honesty, i think am going to do away with the body lift and take the "TRAIL LESS TRAVELED". Wish i would have seen that article before i bought the body lift. I will take off an 1' from the BL and leave the other inches there

From link posted on first page:

"The Mud-Terrain T/A KM "DT" was developed to provide aggressive off-road looks for the drivers of performance pickups, radical jeeps and super SUVs using 22-inch diameter wheels"

.. LOOKS??? Geeeeeeze

Arent they coming out with them in 15in next year i thought i read that somewhere. I know 4wheeler magazine did a review on them and they liked them alot. Anyone ever bought tires from Costco? They carry these and are competitively priced, plus they probably offer some sort of warranty compared to online sites which don't

I give trucks a pass on big rims IF they have big brakes. New Tundra has 18's but it needs them because it has 14" brakes. Otherwise it's pointless and for show.

Super Swampers come in 20's now too. Sad.
